What do you do when you’ve accomplished the dream… and you’ve still got the rest of your life to live?

My newest guest to Dream Think Do, Gina London, was faced with this question...and she now knows an answer!

In this episode, Gina reminds us that accomplishing a dream doesn’t mean the story is over.

It might just be the start of a new chapter.

A chapter shaped by what you’ve learned, what matters to you now, and what you still feel called to do.

So...what dream might be waiting for you now?

Wildly blessed to be leading a summit this week with an incredible group of leaders!

We’re in glorious Colorado… and even though it’s going to be a full week… and there’s some final prep and things to pull together this morning… I had to give myself permission to slip out and watch the sunrise!

Because here’s the thing…

Even when life is FULL of things we need to get done… we still need to give ourselves permission to just BE.

To slow down.

To notice.

To be PRESENT.

And yeah… I’ll admit… it’s a little easier when you’re watching the morning sun hit the Rockies!

But I’m reminded that we don’t have to be in a beautiful place to notice beautiful things.

There are moments worth noticing EVERY freeeegin day.

We just have to give ourselves permission to see them.

In my newest episode of Dream Think Do, my youngest son, Alex Matthews, talks about a question he always asks on HIS podcast, Met by Coincidence...

And the question is...

"How do you want to be remembered?"

And what most people say...has taught him a lot about how deep down, we are more alike than different...

Alex Matthews, my youngest son, joins us on Dream Think Do after six years since our last episode...to talk about the wild journey of becoming an actor in Los Angeles!

From online acting school, where he had to kiss a camera due to Zoom rehearsals...

To doing vertical soap operas, big Hollywood sets with known actors, and learning how to make it alllll work while living in a chaotic city...

And why he keeps writing even when it feels scary to hit publish...

But through it all...

He’s learned that progress gets easier when you stop treating every step like a chore...

...and start treating it like a game.

That mindset changes everything.

If you’re in a season where the outcome is unclear, this one’s for you.

ā€œSo… are you some kind of EXPERT?ā€

He actually used air quotes when he said expert.

And I had just met the guy 30 seconds earlier.

I was getting ready to speak to about 350 leaders on a subject I love: Applicable Innovation.

I’d arrived early for a mic check when one of the executives I hadn’t met yet gave me a bit of an ā€œol’ grump vibe.ā€

Think: slightly younger version of the two old hecklers from The Muppet Show.

He sized me up and asked:
ā€œSo… are you some kind of ā€˜EXPERT’ on innovation?ā€

I thought for a second.

Then said:
ā€œNope.ā€

ā€œI’m a STUDENT of innovation strategies.
I experiment and implement… a LOT.
I coach people to experiment and implement… a LOT.
And I teach from THOSE experiences.ā€

He paused.

ā€œOh. Well… okay. I’ll just wait and see.ā€

No pressure. LOL.

A few hours later, the session was over.

The room had been buzzing with conversations, new solutions and ideas people were excited to implement.

And my new grumpy friend found me.

To his credit, he said: ā€œOkay… I get it now.ā€

From him?

I took it as high praise.

But the whole exchange got me thinking.

How often do we discount something we KNOW…
something we’ve LEARNED…
something we’ve actually LIVED…
because we don’t feel comfortable calling ourselves an EXPERT?

Maybe that’s okay.

Don’t worry about becoming THE expert.

Be a STUDENT.

Learn.
Experiment.
Implement.

Pay attention to what works.
Learn from what doesn’t.

Then…
SHARE WHAT YOU’RE LEARNING.

Because you don’t have to know EVERYTHING about something…
to know SOMETHING that could help someone.

Maybe the world doesn’t need another self-proclaimed expert.

Maybe it could use a few more curious, committed STUDENTS who are willing to share what they’re learning along the way.

Did you know?....

YAWNING...is a surprisingly simple way to calm your body before you speak.

Or in my case...go on a roller coaster!!

Take a deep breath, let your shoulders drop, and remind yourself: this moment isn’t a life-or-death threat—you’re ready to connect.

Save this for your next presentation, and share it with someone who's about to go on stage! Or...a roller coaster!!

And for more tips to quiet your nerves, check out the newest episode of Dream Think DO!! by @mitch.matthews

The Matthews 4 were back together this weekend… and it was fantastic!

It was for a wedding of two awesome people we all love… so it was extra special!

Plus… I got to officiate… so I had a great view for the ceremony!

It was soooo good to have the fam together! Sooooo good!

By the way… in prep for the ceremony… (and for their marriage too)… I asked the couple some questions.

They seemed to really like them… so I’ll share a few.

What are some of your favorite things about __________?

What’s one of your favorite memories of ___________?

What’s something you love about ________ that most people don’t know?

What do you hope life with ____________ looks like in 25 years?

They’re good questions for a wedding… but they can also be great questions to ask yourself about any important relationship in your life.

Pick someone… and put their name in the blank… and just see where the question takes you!

Lmk.

Okay… now I’m going to go do this little exercise with my favorite people in these pics!

So a recent delay at Ohare reminded me of a favorite… simple… strategy to help bring some peace, joy and even a little child-like wonder into a tough day.

Here’s the scenario. Connection through Ohare. Thought I was only going to have minutes to make my next flight… but I landed to find out about a 3-hour delay.

So… I had some ā€œsurpriseā€ spare time.

I was tempted to find a quiet corner to get some things done.

BUT instead… I decided to give myself… what I call ā€œPermission for a first time… again.ā€

What’s that?

It’s were you give yourself permission to see something for the first time… again.

Yup… even though I’d walked the halls of Ohare countless times… I just gave myself 30 minutes to walk around and look at things… like it was the first time.

Like a little kid.

The cool sky lights.

Some of the art on the walls and in corners.

The cool lighted tunnel.

Travelers from all of the world… with alllll kinds of fashion choices! lol.

No email.

No phone.

Just 30 minutes to walk around experiencing things… for the first time… again.

Sure… later I got back to my day.

I grabbed a coffee and got back to work.

But I noticed that I had a lot of the travel stress. My body was relaxed. My mind was refreshed.

In a way that the scrolling or looking at screens would never have done.

So yeah… I thought I’d offer it as a strategy.

Just in case you could use a little injection of peace… or joy… or even a little childlike wonder today.

You don’t have to wait for an airport to do it.

You can do it on a walk through your neighborhood… or on a drive through your city… or at your favorite park or even on a walk through your hallways a work.

What if you gave yourself permission to see a space or place… for the first time… again?

I wonder what you might see!

Are you building options—or depending entirely on the path you're already on? Walking away isn't always an option. Mitch Matthews found himself successful on paper but miserable in the job he'd worked his way into. Instead of immediately quitting, he started creating another path alongside his existing career. Eventually, that option became the opportunity. #thedailymastermind #georgewrightiii by @mitch.matthews
