Fun Fact - Ricky and I have been working together supporting USSOCOM as federal civilians for about 7 years now, and ever since I joined Manakoa we kept joking we’d race together to rep SOCOM someday. Thursday was my last day at SOCOM, and two days later we finally made it happen at HYROX DC. 🖤

Ricky, thank you for everything. You’ve taught me literally everything I know about HYROX and have given me the space to grow, push my limits, and believe in myself along the way. Showing up with our 5:30am crew every single morning has meant more to me than you guys probably know. I’m so grateful to have you as my coach and my friend.

Swipe to see how quickly I went down with a sprained ankle and Ricky with a pulled groin 😅➡️

Next up: HYROX Boston - Women’s Pro Doubles w/ @lifeinhyroxwithamy

Weee I’m feeling strong!! 🤠

Okay okayyy she moving

Andddd she’s hurt. Shaky hands and all 🙈
I was trying to figure out how one DNFs a race - couldn’t find an exit 😂

Ricky - “Lets walk”
Amy - “Nah - Let’s go!!”

Had to chase our new friends @zeeezimmermanns 😋

Possibly the first time I didn’t die on burpees… all it took was a sprained ankle

Time to lock in 🔒🫡

Me (probably) - “this man is about to carry us the rest of the way”

“Ooo these don’t feel terrible”

“I can do this!!!”

“Umm where’s the medic? Ricky is going down”

We have entered the pain cave 🙃

“wtf is this man doing to his leg?? He’s supposed to do all the wall balls”

We made it!!!!

anddddd the adrenaline instantly vanished. Hello pain

But we survived!! Until Tampa 😛

*bonus if you made it this far*

@amylmedlin, words can’t even begin to describe the race we had this weekend.

We knew going in that we were both injured, but we never let that deter us or make any excuses. Our goal was to push ourselves, have fun, and see what we could achieve. However, the grit and determination you showed after rolling your ankle during the sled pull were truly remarkable. From not knowing if you could even finish to stepping up and leading the way through the lunges and wall balls when my pulled groin limited me, it demonstrated true teamwork and our unwavering no-quit attitude.

I was so blessed to have you racing with me this weekend. We fought through it together, and I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished. 🤝🔥

HYROX DC was tough, it was a fight, it’s why I love HYROX and reminded me the importance of having the right partner.

Now, I’m excited to see what we can achieve when we both are healthy and race the way we know we can. Amy, we’re just getting started. 🫡🔥

Lastly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who reached out before the race, to our Ohana and friends who were there cheering us on and kept us motivated to push ourselves and letting us know we could finish. You all gave us the boost we needed to finish our race! Now to heal up and get ready for the next one! by @mitchellmaui

Behind every great community is a leader who pours their heart into it. For us at Manakoa, that’s our founder and head coach, Ricky Mitchell.

Ricky is the absolute core of this Ohana. As a retired veteran, he brings a deep sense of service, discipline, and true leadership to our community every single day.

Ricky has been involved in HYROX since the very beginning, competing in 35 races with a stacked resume of podium finishes. He doesn’t just coach this sport, he lives it. Ricky always goes above and beyond to ensure everyone feels welcomed and reaches their fullest potential. That dedication is exactly why Manakoa is so special compared to anywhere else.

We wouldn’t be who we are without you, Coach! @mitchellmaui

What an incredible HYROX 2026 World Championship experience.

Having the opportunity to race twice on the world stage this year with two amazing partners (@holthauscorey & @acholthaus )is something I’ll never forget. The races themselves were special, but what made this weekend truly unforgettable was sharing it with 8 incredible @manakoafitness athletes. Watching each of them compete against the best in the world, overcome challenges, and live out a dream they worked so hard for filled me with so much pride. Seeing the joy, nerves, excitement, and determination from our Ohana was an incredible feeling that is hard to put into words.

Representing @manakoafitness is something I never take for granted. What we have is so much more than a gym. It’s an Ohana. The friendships, encouragement, and support we give one another are what make this community so special. Wearing the Manakoa name on the world stage was a true honor.

As I reflect on this season, my heart is full. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to compete. It was an honor to race alongside such remarkable athletes. Every person I’ve encountered along the way, every lesson I’ve learned, and every challenge that has helped me grow, have all been invaluable experiences. Most of all, I’m blessed to be part of an amazing Ohana that supports, encourages, and inspires one another every day. The memories made, the friendships built, and the experiences shared throughout this season and this weekend is what I’ll carry with me forever. While this season has come to an end, I’m excited to see what next year brings and where this journey takes me next!

Thanks to @thehybridengine @lauren_e_weeks @awildperessini @laurensmithsports @br_mitchell83 @mamaswag34 for keeping me prepared for every race and adventure that comes my way. The programming, support, and belief in me have helped me accomplish more than I ever thought possible. taken in Strawberry Arena by @mitchellmaui

Another Sunday with some of the @manakoafitness Ohana all chasing the same goal; getting 1% better each day! 🔥

Nothing beats a long Zone 2 comfortable run with great people while continuing to build the engine. Grateful for every mile, every conversation, and opportunity to put in the work to get better!

Huge thank you to @manakoafitness programmer @br_mitchell83 and @thehybridengine for the incredible programming that keeps me motivated, improving, and ready for whatever comes next.

Let’s continue to Win the Day, stay disciplined, and never take for granted the blessing of being able to do this every single day. 🤙🏽 taken in South Tampa by @mitchellmaui

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been running more, and people keep asking what I’m training for. The truth is, it made me think back to something my dad always told me when I was little: be prepared for whatever life throws your way.

Today’s run started with a heavy heart, but somewhere along the way I fell into conversation with @hannahbsnyder We talked about how every day we wake up is both a blessing and a reminder our time here is limited. We’re all living on borrowed time.

As the miles went on with @isa_bella_chap and @lifeinhyroxwithamy, that thought stayed with me and I feel we need to live fully, love harder, and get 1% better each day before our time runs out.

Tomorrow isn’t promised, and for me, regret lasts longer than fear. So I’m choosing to live this life as fully as I can! God is Good! 🫶 taken in South Tampa by @mitchellmaui

HYROX HOUSTON 🤠🔥 RECAP

I’ve raced Hyrox many times in the last 4 years; however, this one hit different. First time stepping on that floor with @marissa_palmer although we have known each other for a few years, through the Hyrox community!

From the first run to the final push, @marissa_palmer had me on the go! There were many times I was not sure I’d be able to hold on as she was pushing me but I knew I needed a race like this. When things got tough I knew I couldn’t let her down, the @manakoafitness Ohana and most importantly myself! This race wasn’t just about finishing as it was about trust, grit, and pushing through every moment together. When things got very tough, @marissa_palmer was there to say let’s go Ricky! We leaned on each other (I did most of the leaning) and kept moving forward.

There’s a different kind of respect that comes from sharing that kind of grind with someone for the first time. You find another level, not just physically, but mentally. And that’s exactly what this race gave me plus the below:

Mixed doubles PR, 1st in AG (45-49) Mixed Doubles, best Mixed Doubles Tattoo team in Houston (@hyroxamerica and @hyroxworld take notice 😉)

Proud of what we did out there yesterday and can’t wait to run it back soon, once I can move.

Shout outs:
@marissa_palmer (thank you for racing)
@manakoafitness
@thehybridengine
@lauren_e_weeks
@awildperessini

**Special shoutout to the early morning crew that keeps me working and improving each day! Thank you 🙏🏽

Hyrox Phoenix birthday weekend was an incredible experience with the @manakoafitness Ohana. I enjoyed watching everyone compete, push past their limits and achieve numerous PR’s this weekend!

Now, let’s talk about my Men’s Pro Doubles race on Saturday night. I had a number in mind and felt confident, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen.

@holthauscorey played a crucial role in our race. He kept me motivated and focused when things were going awry, his encouragement and assurance kept me going.
Seeing a few teams from our age group ahead of us gave me a boost of confidence and with his push and support, we conquered! Not the time I was pushing for, but we finished 2nd in our age group!

I want to express my deepest gratitude to @holthauscorey for standing by my side and helping me through a challenging night of racing. Now it’s time to rest, recover and get back to training with a PR in site for my next race! Thanks to @thehybridengine and coaches @lauren_e_weeks and @awildperessini for getting me ready! #manakoafitness #thehybridengine #ohana #godisgreat taken in Statefarm Arena by @mitchellmaui
