Hi, I’m Kosha 🤍

I started Mitti in 2021, but my relationship with clay goes back about 6 years now
and honestly, I didn’t really know what I was building when I began

I just knew I wanted to keep showing up, working with my hands, and staying close to something that felt grounding

Somewhere along the way, Mitti became a space that holds not just my work, but so many people, stories, and moments 🫶🏽

It’s still a little imperfect, a little all over the place on some days
but it’s mine, and it means a lot to me

If you’ve been here for a while, thank you for staying 🤍
If you’re new, I’m really glad you found your way here

I’m tired.
Tired of politely saying no to requests that ask me to copy someone else’s work.
Tired of explaining why it’s not okay to take another artist’s vision and recreate it for less.
Tired of justifying why I only create what feels true to me.

I make ceramics that come from my hands, my mind, my sense of beauty. Not copies. Not shortcuts. Not requests that dilute the very reason I started creating in the first place.

And I say this with love and respect—for myself, for my art, and for every other ceramic artist out there who’s been in this position.

🎯 If you love another artist’s work, please buy from them. Support their journey. Respect their process. Don’t ask someone else to imitate it.

To my fellow ceramic artists:
Do you face this too?
Do you wish more people understood the value of original work?
Comment below or just say “yes” if you feel this.

Let’s stand for creative integrity, together!

Three days at @kanoriacentre , and I’m coming back with a very full heart.

Kanoria has always been a little special to me. Having grown up in Ahmedabad, there’s a familiarity and comfort that this place brings, but more than that, it’s the people. Vidhi and the entire Kanoria team are some of the warmest people to work with. They go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable, have everything you need, and are always open to feedback. That kind of thoughtfulness really makes a difference.

And Ahmedabad… you never disappoint. The openness to art, the curiosity, the enthusiasm and the genuine appreciation for creative work is always so overwhelming. As an artist, there’s something incredibly fulfilling about seeing people connect with the things you’ve made.

I’m so, so happy with the response to my work and all the pieces that found new homes over these three days. I hope they bring their new owners as much joy as I had while making them. Every piece carries a little bit of my time, my thoughts and, most importantly, my happiness. And I love the thought of that finding its way into someone else’s home.

A massive thank you to Vidhi and the entire team for making these three days so lovely.

And the biggest shout-out to @niharikashah11 , who was by my side through all of it. The emotional support, the laughs, the company and just having a friend there to share the madness with… I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better person to do this with. And ofcourse much love to @smiti_s and @chefbakhtiani 🫶🫶🫶

Ceramics Festival 4.0, you’ve been nothing short of amazing. Already looking forward to the next one. ❤️

A little landscape in blue, peach and terracotta… ☁️🫖

This teapot came out of the kiln with the most unexpected glaze patterns. The colours melting into each other, the little flashes of red, the raw earthy patches… it feels like a landscape of its own.

Part of the experiments that are slowly shaping Keshiki… where the process is as exciting as the final piece.

A little distorted, a little bloody, and absolutely not for everyone.

This pot was a bit of a surprise, even for me. I went a little wild with the glazes, crossed my fingers, opened the kiln, and found these gorgeous bloody red flashes all over the surface. No complaints whatsoever.

The form is deliberately distorted, the rim has a mind of its own, and despite looking like it weighs a ton, it’s surprisingly light to hold.

I think this pot needs an interesting owner. Someone who appreciates art that doesn’t behave itself. Someone who likes their design a little unconventional, their objects a little odd, and their perfection slightly questionable.

Basically, someone with a good eye and an interesting bio. If that sounds like you, we might have a pot to discuss.

Introducing the V60 Pour Overs from Keshiki… ☕️

A very different aesthetic for MittiKosh. A little raw, a little rugged, deliberately uneven, and all the more beautiful for it.

These aren’t about perfection. The ridges, the irregular surfaces, the variations in the glaze… they’re all intentional. There’s something about the visible touch of the human hand that makes these pieces feel so organic and natural. Almost as if they’ve always belonged exactly where they are.

The glazes are understated enough to let the form speak, but with just the right amount of drama to make these stand out on your coffee shelf. Because your everyday coffee ritual deserves a little something special, too.

Part of Keshiki, our new collection inspired by landscapes and the beauty of imperfection.

This is Keshiki… and honestly, ceramics will never stop amazing me. ❤️

With the Potters Market in Ahmedabad just around the corner, every piece that goes into the kiln feels that much more precious. There’s so much anticipation, so much hoping, and so much crossing of fingers. And then the kiln opens, and something comes out that is so much more beautiful than you imagined.

The glazes on this piece have turned out beyond anything I expected. The layers, the colours, the way they move into each other… I genuinely don’t think a photograph or video can do them justice. You have to see this one in person.

I really hope some of you in Ahmedabad get to see Keshiki up close at the market. There’s something so special about experiencing ceramics in person, seeing the surfaces, the depth, the little details that a screen just can’t capture.

Sometimes I feel like an alchemist. You mix a few things together, put them into a kiln, wait, hope, and somehow, magic happens. What comes out is a little treasure you could never have entirely predicted.

And how lucky am I to get to do this… to work with clay, to experiment with glazes, and to keep being surprised by both.

Forever in awe of this process. ✨

Potters Market is right around the bend… 🏺

So I’m making more forms… different forms… and coming back to some shapes I’ve made before.

These shallow bowl slash plates are one of those forms I absolutely love. There’s something about the proportions that just feels right, so I knew I wanted to bring them back for this market.

Today was mostly about trimming them… and by now, all of you know how much I love trimming. 🤎

So yes… a very good day in the studio. ✨

You can’t really see it yet…

These are Nerikomi frames, made by layering and arranging different coloured clays before shaping them into these forms.

Right now, they’re being dry sanded… slowly revealing the pattern hidden inside the clay.

And then there’s still the firing to go.

I love this stage… when the piece is still somewhere between what I imagined and what it decides to become.

A little glimpse into what has been happening at the studio lately… 👀

Production for Ahmedabad Potters Market is in full swing, the kiln has been working overtime, and every firing is bringing us closer to something I have been so excited to share.

This year feels different.

I have completely changed my design language for this collection… the forms are different, the surfaces are bolder, the glazes are moodier, and every piece feels like it belongs to a new chapter of Mitti Kosh.

And honestly… changing something that people already loved is intimidating.

I know how much love you all gave to my earlier work, and stepping away from a language that felt familiar and safe definitely comes with its own set of nerves. But this new direction has challenged me in all the right ways… and with every piece coming out of the kiln, I am falling a little more in love with it.

So here’s a tiny sneak peek… 👀✨

Ahmedabad Potters Market, we are coming with something new.

And I really hope you love it as much as I do. 🤎

Things going on in making 🤎

With @kanoriacentre ceramic festival right around the corner, the studio has officially entered production mode.

There is clay everywhere, wheels constantly turning, shelves slowly filling up, and a kiln that seems to have become a permanent part of the schedule.

This year feels particularly exciting because I have been consciously pushing Mitti Kosh into a slightly different design language. More sculptural, more considered, and a little more elevated, while still keeping the very essence of what I love about making with clay.

You’ll see a lot of hand drawn texture, layered forms, exaggerated proportions, soft curves, stacked volumes and pieces that let the making remain visible. From the heavily textured vessels and organically thrown forms to the new series of candlestick forms, footed bowls, vases and sculptural objects, I’ve been thinking a lot about how simple functional objects can become little pieces of visual architecture.

The thought process this time has been less about creating a collection that feels perfectly uniform and more about building a family of objects that speak the same language.

Earthy. Textural. Sculptural. Quiet, but with presence.

A lot of these pieces are still very much in the making, and honestly, that is my favourite part. Watching an idea move from a sketch or a vague thought in my head, to a lump of clay, to something that starts developing its own personality on the wheel.

Production is in full force, and there is a LOT more coming.

See you at ceramic festival Potters Market. 🫶🏼

Glaze is always a bit of a gamble. You can choose the colours, control the application and still have the kiln completely change the story. This one came out with all these beautiful transitions between brown, blue and green, with each layer revealing something a little different across the form. ✨
