Happy 11th birthday to the coolest kid I know and, more importantly, the person who gave me a purpose in life I never knew I needed.

Watching you grow into the person you are becoming has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. Keep shining bright, keep having fun, work hard, be kind, and no matter what life throws your way, always remember to keep smiling.

I’m so proud to be your dad, Noah. I love you more than words could ever explain.

Happy birthday, buddy. ❤️ by @mixedbyariel

One of the highlights of my career was presenting at Noah’s 5th-grade Career Day today.

Getting to share what I do and introduce these incredible young minds to the world of music and audio was both gratifying and fulfilling. But what impacted me most was their curiosity, excitement, and imagination. Their energy reminded me why I fell in love with this craft in the first place.

I hope I inspired them, because they certainly inspired me.

My bucket is full today, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. by @mixedbyariel

The audio and music community lost a true legend, mentor, and inspiration — Bob Power.

I first met Bob in 1997 when I was an intern. Someone asked if I wanted to sit in on a session as a reward for working hard. As an audio nerd who had read his name in the liner notes of some of my favorite records growing up, it was a no-brainer. That day changed my life.

Years later, we became friends through the Recording Academy, serving together on the Producer & Engineer Wing. We had countless conversations — in person and on the phone — and no matter how many years passed, I was always a student when I spoke to him. Being able to pick his brain was a privilege.

One of my favorite memories was working alongside him on a production/mix for a Recording Academy event. I remember asking him, “Why am I mixing this and not you?”
His response: “Because you’re great… and I’m old.”

We later did a panel together at Pace University. During the introduction, they played a snippet of a record we each mixed — “Check the Rhime” for Bob and “Mind Your Manners” for me. Bob turned to me and said, “Wow… your low end is so much better than mine.” I was speechless. There’s no world where that was true. But coming from him, I took it as the highest compliment.

Thank you, Bob — for inspiring me for so many years.
For the long phone calls at odd hours about audio and about life.
You inspired me to teach. To be a better mixer. And to be a better human.

Rest in peace.

A mix isn’t a collection of moves, it’s about choosing what matters, and committing to it. #mixedbyarielborujow #berklee #mixingphilosophy #musicjourney #audioengineers by @mixedbyariel
