METALLICA/PANTERA/SUICIDAL TENDENCIES

Last night the Dome was the loudest I’ve ever heard, i swear my heads still ringing in the best way. what a fucking killer show i’m still on cloud nine

I had such a fun time with these photos, I love these bands and feel so incredibly grateful to be able to experience shows like this. The music was great and the people I met were even better, 10/10 night and maybe some of my favorite photos ever :)

THANK YOU to everyone both near and far who showed me so much love and support Sunday. The gallery opening went better than I could’ve ever hoped for and selling out of books was beyond any of my expectations. It’s been such a privilege to be able to do this work and to see people come together to enjoy the project. The Hardcore community has given me so much and seeing the culmination of it all in one space has been surreal to say the least.

None of this could’ve been done without @trevorparloclement who saw the value of my images before I did, and put this together beautifully. I’ve learned so much from him and this process and I cannot express my gratitude enough.

Thank you Cjala for having my work up in your wonderful space, it means so much to be able to have it displayed at Black Citizens Brigade. The gallery will be up until April 15th so if you didn’t get a chance to on Sunday, definitely come by and take a look and explore the space (one of my favorite spots in town)

This has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I’m excited for what the future holds!!

peace & love,

EXHIBITION | TETHERED: Maddi Jane Brown | Opening Sunday, March 15 | 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. | Photographer and photojournalist Maddi Jane Brown presents TETHERED, an exhibition and zine launch marking the culmination of a year documenting the Syracuse hardcore scene. The exhibition runs through April 15th.. Free + open to community.

TETHERED positions Brown not as a spectator, but as a participant, within the current, not at its edge. Her images hold the blur of motion, the density of low light, the charged stillness before impact. Her works do not smooth the edges; they honor the abrasion. They tether sound and collision into a visual archive of the local hardcore scene built in real time.
—
MADDI JANE BROWN (@mj.nef) through documentary photography and visual reporting, examines environment, politics, and DIY music culture, situating subjects within broader social, political and ecological contexts.
