POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Some festivals are remembered for the artists who performed. Others are remembered for how they made you feel.

Thank you for making our first chapter unforgettable.

What started as a festival became something much more, a gathering of people from different places, backgrounds and generations, united by a shared love of music, culture and the simple joy of being together under the majestic mountains of Franschhoek.

To every artist, partner, volunteer, local business, resident and festival-goer who helped make history with us, thank you.

You helped us launch something extraordinary, now join us for the journey ahead.

The inaugural Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek was unforgettable.

Gathered through music.
United in intention.
Defined by moments on and off stage.
From world-class performances to the energy moving through the crowd, this was more than a festival weekend, it was the moment Montreux met Africa, and something truly special happened.

People came together through sound, celebration, and shared experience, turning Franschhoek into a space alive with rhythm, connection, and unforgettable performances we won’t soon forget.

We’re still feeling it.
And we can’t wait to do it all again.

A meeting of two worlds, commemorated in six strings.

Created by the Swiss Montreux Jazz Festival in homage to Montreux Meets Africa, FRANSCHHOEK is a limited-edition electric guitar celebrating the meeting of musical cultures, the spirit of collaboration and the shared language of music.

Finished in glittering blue and handcrafted with Swiss-made pickups, just 24 will ever be made.

We are incredibly proud to be the African chapter of this global festival legacy, and to see Montreux Jazz Festival’s Franschhoek edition commemorated in such a special way.

A tribute to the music that brings us together.

Our African encore is coming, and this time it lasts three days.

Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek returns from 19 to 21 March 2027. Our managing director, Philip Beardwood, spoke to The Sunday Times about what is ahead.

Sunday becomes a full festival day, and the Sunday Slowdown will grow with more free stages across the village. International heavyweights, South African heavyweights, and African greats will share the line-up, alongside collaborations that you will never see again. We are also growing our workshops and building partnerships with festivals around the world, so that African artists can take the stage on theirs.

Franschhoek is the stage, and the music is always at the centre.

Read the full story in The Sunday Times via the link in our bio.

A piece of Montreux history was made in Franschhoek.

From 27–29 March 2026, the first Montreux Jazz Festival on African soil brought three days of music, culture and hospitality to the Franschhoek Valley, welcoming more than 10,500 visitors and 37+ local and international acts across two stages.

But the festival was never confined to the music.

From the Montreux Mile and Village Market to local restaurants, shops and the Sunday Slowdown, the experience extended into the heart of Franschhoek, creating new connections between the festival and the community around it.

With 21 local businesses involved and 2000 local job opportunities created, the first chapter reached far beyond the stages.

A beginning worth remembering.

Now, we look ahead to the next chapter.

A stage like no other.

Set against the Franschhoek mountains, with the golden March light falling just right, the Arches became one of the most beautiful stages in the world.

As the sun moved, the light changed. As the music began, the whole landscape seemed to come alive.
This is the golden season. And this is where Montreux’s African Encore will unfold.

At the heart of Montreux Jazz Festival is an opportunity to get up close and personal with the music, and our Franschhoek edition is no different.

Whether we were dancing alongside the choir, hands in the air and close enough to the stage to feel every beat, or leaning into the intimacy of Jazz Village, where every note felt that little bit closer, Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek brought the music right to you.

Book your flights, secure your accommodation, and start planning your weekend in Franschhoek and be part of Montreux’s African Encore.

This Heritage Day, we celebrate the Montreux Jazz Festival finding its African home.

Born on the shores of Lake Geneva, with sister festivals around the world, Montreux found its African home in Franschhoek, on African soil, beneath African skies.

And here, we danced up the dust.

Across two stages and two days, around 220 South African artists, including DJs, shared the programme, bringing our sounds, stories, rhythms and roots to the heart of the festival.

We came together through music, celebrating where we have come from while looking towards a more united future.

From Africa to the world, and the world back to Africa, music has a way of bringing us together.

Let’s do it again.
