🔔❄️🌨️☁️🐺 WUHUUUU ❄️🌨️☁️🐺🔔

Sage And The Snowshoe express is hitting shelves September 1st!!

I love sled dogs and the love that pools around them, our deep connections with them and how we adorn them! Working on this book with @louisebradford.writer and folks at @kidscanpress was so so special and I’m SO HAPPY TO HOLD THE FINAL BOOK!

Thanks all :,) please check out this completely unique and awesome celebration of culture and family!

My favourite story about this book is in the early part of creating the art Louise gave me a book about John Beargrease. In the book is a story of how a settler woman brought out a plate of cookies to offer some to him and his company as thanks during one of his winter runs between communities. In those days milk, flour and sugar were complete luxuries. Lost in each others cultural protocols John took the whole plate and put it in his bag. I imagined myself in that moment in the room and laughed.

Of course he would have shared them! But I can only imagine the look on the woman’s face! As a homage to this moment, on a page you can see a plate of cookies about to be added to his bag. Too good to not.

⚡️ A boy must face his fears as he embarks on a vision quest to find the black stone. Will he be able to find the black stone? Will he be able to find himself? 🌀

🌊 “Rooted in an Ojibwe story and aided by vibrant, dreamlike illustrations, this inspiring picture book teaches that there is no easy way to conquer fear, but with the strength we all carry within, we can face anything that comes our way.” — Foreword Reviews
