You may have forgotten what happened back in 2020 but the city didn’t.

Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Kitsilano... they all remember. Things haven’t been the same ever since.

I know you feel it too.

“Radiant images and a spacious narrative provide adults with an uplifting space to discuss heavy emotions with young ones... A glowing window into grieving that makes room for sorrow and joy to coexist.” @kirkus_reviews

”Lovely descriptive language….will lead to discussions about loss and how spending time in nature can be healing. A gentle book dealing with grief, told through the lens of the natural world.” @sljournal

Happy Indigenous People’s Day!

Here are some fresh recommendations from my personal collection:

The Lost Haida Manga by Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas @yahgulanaas, collecting comics from as early as 1981! This is a must have if you are a “Canadian Underground” collector

Oh, I’m So Good by Whess Harman @ndn_bebop. Whess quietly released this in February & I want 100 more issues already. I love learning about people’s connections to films with the life experiences they had. Especially when it involves watching movies on the Rez with your cousins!

Little Shoes by David A Robertson @davidrobertsonwriter and Maya McKibbin @mkchibs. This one came out last year but it’s just as powerful of a read as it was the first time, reading it a year later! I have loved David’s writing for so long so when he collaborated with my good friend Maya, I got a little teary eyed. I love both these humans. I’m so proud to call them friends and it’s incredible to watch your friends collaborate on something together

REZ METAL by Ashkan Soltani Stone and Natalie A Zappia. I recently got this book from @reasonstolivebooks, I haven’t finished it yet but I’m loving all the insight I’m getting about a metal community thousands of miles away!

A Circle Strong Enough to Carry Both Sides by Marika Swan @marikaswanart. This is the catalogue book for their @bbyartgallery exhibition, it’s gorgeous! If you missed seeing the show in person this is a great substitute

30x30 by @conundrumpress which includes:
We Were Younger Once by Kiona Callihoo Ligtvoet @kiona_wynne
Cousin Bear Comes to Visit by Halie Finney @halies.sketchbook
We See Stars Only At Night by me, Cole Pauls

We Were Younger Once and Cousin Bear Comes to Visit were my two favorite stories in all the Conundrum 25 collection, so I feel incredibly proud to have my comic share the same spine as those stories!

And if you don’t feel like reading today, go watch @endlesscookie_movie on Crave!!!! It was my favorite movie of 2025 and I’m not just saying that because @kunysack threw a Dakwäkãda Warriors reference in the back. It’s a genius film that every Canadian should watch
