The ER vet thinks Teddy had a tumor pressing against his optic nerves. He was in such pain the last few days. It's been really hard on all of us. Last night he kept slamming his head into us...it was hard. We gave him an extra dose of prescribed aspirin around 9 pm. And have been giving him dog melatonin to try anything. But around 10 pm he started howling, and we knew his time was limited. We began. At 11:30 pm we decided to not be selfish and took him back to the ER. Asking if there was anything we could do to help him get better. The only answer was to let him go.

Sometimes strength doesn’t look like standing tall. Sometimes it looks like simply getting back up, again and again.

Maybe healing isn’t about becoming who we were before. Maybe it’s about becoming someone we never knew we could be. For me, that is art and writing.

Still here.
Still healing.
Still grateful.
Still creating.
Still me. ❤️

And if you’re in a hard chapter right now, remember this:

The story isn’t over.

There are still good things ahead. I know it’s hard to see through the darkness but there is light.

I finished the Aspen Grove and I absolutely love this painting.

❤️ A LITTLE ABOUT WHAT’S BEEN GOING ON… AND A CREATIVE WAY TO HELP

Most people don’t know this, but a few weeks ago I had oral surgery. A few days later, an artery ruptured unexpectedly. We still have no idea how it happened, but thankfully Matt and Aubrey were home.

Aubrey’s quick first-aid response and Matt’s incredibly fast decision to get me to the hospital made all the difference. I ended up needing emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and spent several days in the hospital.

I’m home now, creating, healing, and trying to come up with some creative ways to help with the out-of-pocket expenses. ❤️

Lately, I’ve been practicing simple line drawings—and sometimes, they turn into something really beautiful.

So… here’s my idea.

🎨 YOU GIVE ME THE IDEA. I CREATE THE ART.

Give me a subject, a feeling, a person, an animal, a song, a memory—or even an example of what you’re imagining—and I’ll create an original line drawing just for you.

But there’s a catch…

I’m at the most beautiful wedding weekend celebrating this amazing young lady, Danielle. @daniellelynn24 ❤️

I was there the day she was born, and loving her has always been easy. Watching her grow into the incredible woman she is today and now seeing her marry Ian is something my heart can hardly put into words. They truly make the most beautiful couple. 💕

And then there’s the wedding party… including a great young man our daughters became friends with, @tyler_wills12 . Seeing so many wonderful young people we’ve loved along the way gathered together makes this weekend even more special.

My heart cannot express the amount of love, pride, and joy I feel right now. What a gift it is to witness these beautiful moments. 🥹❤️

Danielle & Ian, may your life together be filled with a lifetime of laughter, love, adventure, and the kind of happiness that brought everyone together this weekend.

💙 Meet MK Podschweit.

If you’ve been to a SofaKillers show, you’ve probably seen her.

She’s the one with the biggest smile in the crowd, cheering us on, taking photos, and supporting everyone around her.

You may have noticed she walks a little differently or that speaking isn’t always easy. You may have wondered about her story.

The truth is, it’s a difficult one.

Years ago, MK survived a catastrophic medical event that changed her life forever. Every day she lives with the effects of a brain injury, but every day she chooses to keep creating, keep learning, and keep showing up.

That’s why we love her.

She reminds us that life isn’t about perfection—it’s about courage, perseverance, and finding joy in the middle of life’s unexpected turns.

For MK, that joy is ArtTherapy.

Painting isn’t just something she does. It’s how she heals. It’s how she communicates. It’s how she turns struggle into hope.

🎨 This Saturday at Red Leg Brewing Company, during the SofaKillers break, MK will be doing her very first live speed painting.

It takes incredible courage to create a painting in front of a crowd. We’d love for you to stop by, cheer her on, and watch a blank canvas become something beautiful.

When a hummingbird hovers before you, whose name does your heart whisper?

I don’t always realize how visible my disability is until a friend offers to help, points something out, or even teases me with one of those little jabs. In those moments, I retreat to a quiet place where I can feel, simply be, and grieve what was lost.

Then I paint.

I hope this piece speaks to you and reminds you to find joy in the stillness, a fleeting glimpse of hope carried on delicate wings. Sometimes the smallest moments bring the greatest healing.

Mother’s Day feels different now.
Quieter somehow.
But your voice still lives in the little things.

In the way I care for others.
In the way I stop to admire purple flowers blooming in the spring.
In every hummingbird that appears like a tiny hello from heaven.

You taught me that kindness matters.
That people need compassion more than perfection.
That love is found in the simplest things…
a warm meal, a listening ear, a hand held through hard days.

Though you are gone, your lessons remain rooted deeply in our family.
I passed them down to our children,
and through them, your spirit still grows.

They know your love through the stories I tell,
through the flowers we plant,
through the beauty we notice in ordinary moments.

And whenever a hummingbird pauses nearby,
hovering softly beside the purple blooms,
I think of you.

✔ No mugging, no mayhem, no drama

Yes, it was dirty.
Yes, the snow was brown.
And yes… we felt totally safe and had a beautiful time.

Sometimes the loudest stories aren’t the truest ones. ❤️ Brown snow. Piles of trash. Smiles everywhere.
We felt safe. We felt inspired. We felt grateful.

Sometimes the stories don’t match the lived experience — and that’s okay.
