Blessed. Unworthy. Forgiven.

Three words. A whole lot of Matt. ❤️

🎹 MEET THE BAND: MATT “THE PARTY” PODSCHWEIT 🎹

You know him as the guy behind the keyboards, vocals, and energy that fuels a SofaKillers show.

But there’s a lot more to Matt than “The Party.”

A lifelong musician, accomplished jazz pianist, husband, father, grandfather, cyclist, choir singer—and, surprisingly, an introvert.

In 1985, while touring Scandinavia with his college choir, Matt performed for the King and Queen of Sweden at a state dinner in Stockholm.

Afterward, a soprano pulled the King and Queen into the choir’s circle while they sang their school song.

Security went on high alert.

The press started snapping photos.

And the choir made the front page the next day.

😂 International incident narrowly averted.

Today, Matt still loves stepping into different musical settings and playing with different musicians.

“There’s something special about coming together to make music.”

His favorite SofaKillers song? Sledgehammer.

His adrenaline song? 24 Karat Magic.

“Bruno gets my engine running.” 🔥

But his favorite part of performing might be best summed up by this:

“When I’m in the middle of performing a tune, my mind is 100% occupied… the world could just fall away.”

And when we asked him what he hopes you feel after a SofaKillers show?

“Exhausted and entertained.”

Sounds about right. 😎

So next time you see Matt behind those keys, remember there’s a whole lot of musician, family man, and heart behind “The Party.”

Blessed. Unworthy. Forgiven.

Three words.

A whole lot of Matt. ❤️

💙 Meet MK Podschweit.

If you’ve been to a SofaKillers show, you’ve probably seen her.

She’s the one with the biggest smile in the crowd, cheering us on, taking photos, and supporting everyone around her.

You may have noticed she walks a little differently or that speaking isn’t always easy. You may have wondered about her story.

The truth is, it’s a difficult one.

Years ago, MK survived a catastrophic medical event that changed her life forever. Every day she lives with the effects of a brain injury, but every day she chooses to keep creating, keep learning, and keep showing up.

That’s why we love her.

She reminds us that life isn’t about perfection—it’s about courage, perseverance, and finding joy in the middle of life’s unexpected turns.

For MK, that joy is ArtTherapy.

Painting isn’t just something she does. It’s how she heals. It’s how she communicates. It’s how she turns struggle into hope.

🎨 This Saturday at Red Leg Brewing Company, during the SofaKillers break, MK will be doing her very first live speed painting.

It takes incredible courage to create a painting in front of a crowd. We’d love for you to stop by, cheer her on, and watch a blank canvas become something beautiful.

Because sometimes the greatest masterpiece isn’t the painting…

❤️ It’s the person holding the brush.

We are so proud to call MK part of the SofaKillers family.

Come celebrate music, art, and the incredible strength of the human spirit with us this Saturday! #disabiltyawareness #arttherapyheals #braininjuryawareness #getoffyoursofa #supportthearts @mkpod @redlegbrewco

“Without commitment you’ll never start. But more importantly, without consistency, you’ll never finish.” Wise words from Mary Kay (and Teddy!) who have found OTF as a home to help battle a brain injury and a community with coaches that will help push and inspire!🧡

My favorite part about Orangetheory is people’s stories. These are my miracle ladies. They both had traumatic brain injuries, actually died, saw Heaven, and are back with a big purpose! They both light up a room. Today they reminded me that it isn’t just about us, but about what God can do through us. It was such a wonderful reminder that we are all lights in this world and need to shine in who we are🧡! Mary and Michelle keep shining bright! You make everyone around you shine more!
