#Uncommitted ‘25 (6’2 188) RHP Ethan Russell (@ethan.russs) of @wowfactor_nation 17U Nation

Delivery Comp - Trevor Bauer (@baueroutage)

Similarities👇

•Glove close 2 body (up phase+hand break)
•Posture+balance from hand break thru release
•Initial path out of glove
•Depth in arm action
•Delivery builds pace gradually
•Front arm lever
•Gradual stack/rock back thru down & out phases (begins mid⬇️phase)
•Ground force created at same time (weight rolls to inside back foot during upper half stack)
•Hip hinge (timing, near similar positioning)
•Internal connection held down slope
•Well timed hip/shoulder sep
•Stride leg hyperextension (during out phase)
•Efficient elbow lift+spiral
•Effortless lead leg block due to proper weight distribution

Qualities to improve on for Russell to reach Bauer’s elite delivery -

•Later effort in delivery (watch facial expression in down & out phases). Stay loose and relaxed pre foot strike.
•Better roll to inside back foot (in down & out phases) for increased internal pressure, knee angle. Shift more to inside heel+ball of foot as knee comes down and hold
•Front arm lever a bit more east/west or swingy than Bauer. Bauer elbow pulls down more linear to plate (north/south ish) stays more compact to body.

Current arsenal ⬇️

FB 86-88 T90 ride
CUT 82-84 late depth
SL 77-79
CH 80-82

Big future to come in the game for Ethan Russell‼️

‘26 CF Jamir Johnson (@go_yard_mir) 6’3 190, Locust Grove HS, GA (18U National, Cincinnati Bearcats Commit)

Future everyday CF (occasional All-Star potential) who plays the game with calm temperament and rare ease of effort. A unique blend of tools, intangibles, projection, but with MLB ready swing mechanics. These elite mechanics create more reaction time, adjustability, and power pro, while allowing more room for error. In short, he gets more hits than other prospects on marginal barrels or being early/late (mechanical breakdown pinned in comments). This fits ideally with his advanced pitch recognition & controlled effort, putting him in counts of strength and enabling him to lay off quality pitches outside the zone.

Wherever the run tool ends up settling in, plus range in CF seems automatic with his impressive anticipation, reads, smooth routes, and long gliding strides. As he physically matures, being a consistent 20/20 guy (HR/SB) at ML level is well within reach. While he may not end up with any top of scale tools, he does everything well and most importantly will hit. The prototype lean & rangy frame offers considerable ceiling and will have clubs dreaming on more.

Hit: 35/50 Ideal selective-aggressive approach, real chance for A/AVG.
Raw Power: 45/55. Could tap into more
Power Pro: 4/55. Consistent HR, 2B vs top arms in class
Run: 55/55. Covers ground w/ ease
Field: 45/55. Natural tracking, future plus range
Arm: 5/5. Solid carry, accurate

Separators - Pitch Recognition, Swing Mechanics, Ease of Effort, Projection

Player Comp: Mike Cameron (potentially more hit, less defense)

OFP: 52. (Ceiling 55, floor 48).

@tigers SP @reese_olson

What makes him so good mechanically/overall, and what delivery adjustments have taken him from MILB good to 2 straight MLB seasons of sub 4.00 ERA.

Ability to hold coil+hinge late in stride & ctrl front arm lever into sudden hip clearance sets off explosive, sequenced rotation (hips➡️abs+obliques➡️chest➡️arm) few can match. Olson has elite hip mobility+flexibility which allow him to create more stretch of fascia (in hip/shoulder separation) for more torque, better hip clearance, and better knee angle+direction into block. Knees inside feet as he works down slope centralize pressure and balance. Arm action shows ideal depth, build of momentum (as does delivery), space, elasticity in flip up, spiral. Delivery is very well timed.

Olson has 2 plus secondary pitches (SL+CH) that break well past hitter’s swing decision point. His FB’s (4SM & SNK) have A/AVG to good velocity and uses them appropriately for tunnels, they also play up due to angle from L3/4 slot, closed foot land, mound placement. Shows 2 distinct BB in the 2600-3100 RPM range (KCB avg 2548, SL avg 2767). The KCB is a 3rd secondary & still gets 30% whiff. His ability to truly hold velocity deep into starts is God given & has been there since he was 150 lbs in HS. This is an elite competitor who looks forward to facing the games best hitters and doesn’t give in when behind in count/long AB’s.

(2019-2022) Forced shoulder tilt north would cause arch, lack of balance & direction down slope (chest over heels). Led to front arm swing (glove controlled) that didn’t match shoulder rotation or slot & caused loss of connection+direction, more head movement.

(2023-current) Flatter shoulders create better posture+balance (chest over balls/center of feet), slower front arm lever that matches pace of stride helps him stay closed longer & promotes good direction. Front arm, shoulder rotation now match arm slot perfectly. Rotating in more compact area w/ more efficiency, less head movement.

More mechanical adjustments pinned in comments 📌🧵

Exceptional body control at high intent speaks to the athleticism, fast twitch, and natural strength in the frame. Adjustments in posture & neutralizing shoulders allowing best stuff to play consistently in zone. Ability to hold upper half closed down slope creates connected full circle AA (proper depth, build of momentum) that’s explosive and repeatable.

This is one of the most undervalued arms in class who has much more than stuff. Shows the mentality, temperament, adjustability, and passion for the craft needed to have success at games highest level.

6’1, 155. Pure pitcher w/ proven track record vs top competition. Deadly FB/CH combo produces whiffs in & out of zone on regular. Commands both on/off the plate. With 6.9 extension, -18 HZB, and 95-99% spin efficiency from a 4.5 release height, his FB plays to all quadrants well above its velocity. Deceptive, twisting delivery. Elbow lift+flip up+spiral are textbook and show his flexibility. Long levers and broad shoulders leave much room for projection.

5’11 170. Very rare to see 15U player with the ease of effort, swing effort %, and body control of a pro. The standout tools (hit for avg, run, field) and advanced intangibles (approach, vision/PR, hand-eye) make for a high floor, very low risk prospect. With a short+flat path that covers the entire zone, consistently accurate gap 2 gap swing direction, and⚡️fast twitch this is one of the best players in the country. 6/8 runner conservatively. Track record of high level production vs top teams.

6’3, 175. One of most unique draft follows in southeast this cycle. A top 1% MLB runner now w/ rare actions for age and experience. Improved upper half stack against stride putting hips+shoulders in position for consistent loft & adjustability to pitches in all locations. 2 barrels vs 90+ below. Once he makes contact w/ barrel in front of hands more consistently & advances physically, will tap into SERIOUS power. Footwork, range, hands all exceptional. 17 @ draft, endless ceiling.

6’3, 175. Producing easy loft to both gaps @ Blue Jays Training Camp w/ standout ease of effort, body control, and on-plane efficiency. Fast twitch, leverage, and bat strength build for 🪵. In a different tier of bat 2 ball skills, Malone’s ideal contact point timing allows him to deliver the barrel consistently in front of body for max impact. There’s very little swing & miss in game for the 3 sport ⭐️ who has never had an offseason.

SLIDE 2

Rare adjustability vs highest quality arms and pitch types, and it’s purely reactive after pitch release. His no guess approach fits perfectly with the plus athleticism, an exceptional habit for long term success @ D1/pro. Swings 1 & 2 show how good he can be when holding right center swing direction and hitting inside of ⚾️. Glider with 55/7 run and true 5 tool potential. 17 @ draft 🤯

Bullpen view of the frame (6’3 175), raw stuff, and unique traits that make him one of highest ceiling arms in class. Natural crossfire and lower (near sidearm) slot produce unique combo of VAA at top of zone & tough tracking for hitters. In zone whiffs pile up quickly, especially w/ ability to land SL for strikes.

FB 82-84 T86 ride+run
SLV 70-73
CH 74-75

Slow coil at pace of stride not only breaks hands & produces arm path connected w/ largest throwing muscles, but creates additional stretch and stored energy to rotate with. More jumps in velo w/ current physicality as we adjust some of the sequencing & small inefficiencies in delivery.

Hitting (SLIDE 2)

6’3, 175. Hunting heater in a bases loaded situation, sends a 🚀 to the M🌖🌒N & back for a monumental GS in Championship Game of PG #SEMemorialDay Classic!

Moving early & slow to simplify timing. Top hand+back shoulder turn as 1 creating path behind ⚾️, stable front arm maximizes leverage and whip in barrel. Huge power potential and one of highest ceiling arms in class, T86 on the weekend.

Shows significant twitch for long levered, 6’5 200 frame well before physical maturity. Combined with his ability to change heights, speeds, and locations he’s easily one of the most projectable arms in southeast for class. Standout angle and well A/AVG MLB extension (7.0) play up his well controlled, 4 pitch arsenal.

FB 86-88 T89 carry (16 IVB avg)
SNK 85-86 run
KCB 73-75 T77 sweep, flash 2 plane
CH 77-79 hvy

Noticeable improvements to the delivery over past year - Build of pace, connection of AA to largest throwing muscles, arm pace, well timed space, and ability to hold upper half counter rotation at front hip clearance.

Shout out to WF coach @coach.richardmarte for his work with Grant.

Rare to see a plus delivery & AA at 16 yrs old, especially in an active growth spurt. Here are the exceptional delivery traits

•Ideal build of pace for ease of operation
•Posture down slope & thru release (chest over shoelaces)
•Rhythm between glove & lift knee promotes good hand break timing (@ hip release)
•Arm action works at exact pace of the stride
•Effortless arm swing builds gradual momentum, stays close to & working with largest throwing muscles
•Good elbow spiral
•Sits deep in hip hinge w/o collapsing, rotates out of it explosively
•Back knee angled toward catcher as he works down slope
•Maximizes space between arm action & front arm lever+stride foot just b4 landing
•Slow coil @ pace of stride creates internal pressure, holds upper half counter rotation against front hip clearance for stretch
•Closed foot lander w/ good direction
•Softer landing for optimal weight distro
•Ideal sequence in external phase of throw (front hip➡️front arm lever➡️core➡️chest➡️elbow➡️hand)

💎 Hidden Gem draft follow 💎

Produces effortless velocity despite minimal experience on the mound, whiffs in & out of zone w/ current A/AVG (flashing plus) life on the 4 SM (see slide 2). Natural feel to spin with same release point as FB and shape that projects future A/AVG. Rare arm talent who’s built an explosive arm speed+strength combo from playing full time behind the dish. Compact+connected delivery, highly efficient short circle AA (H3/4) w/ ELITE flexibility+mobility from elbow lift➡️flip up➡️spiral. Feel for sitting in hinge properly down slope, firm but flexible lead leg creates strong foundation.

FB 90-92 (T93 4x, PR 94) ride+run.
CB 74-78 sharp, two plane depth. Consistent shape.

What’s most exciting about Ramon on the mound is that he’s nowhere near a polished product and already sitting 90-92 w/ advanced feel 2 spin. Here are the 🔑 ‘s to taking his stuff to the next level

•Building the pace in delivery. Slow to square up, medium up & down, fast after landing
•Glove tap is timing mechanism. Make sure to tap from windup. Make sure all taps are the same and efficient. Not big
•Rotating and throwing after the foot lands. Do stop at landing drill. 3 stops, 1 full throw
•Keep upper half closed until landing (slow down front arm lever, slow coil of obliques against stride)
