17-20 IVB 4 SM’s jumping out of hand w/ disgusting angle, tunneling sharp two plane CB for 8 K’s in 4 INN @ #WWBA

Exceptional body control at high intent speaks to the athleticism, fast twitch, and natural strength in the frame. Adjustments in posture & neutralizing shoulders allowing best stuff to play consistently in zone. Ability to hold upper half closed down slope creates connected full circle AA (proper depth, build of momentum) that’s explosive and repeatable.

This is one of the most undervalued arms in class who has much more than stuff. Shows the mentality, temperament, adjustability, and passion for the craft needed to have success at games highest level.

18.1 @ draft 👀

6’1, 155. Pure pitcher w/ proven track record vs top competition. Deadly FB/CH combo produces whiffs in & out of zone on regular. Commands both on/off the plate. With 6.9 extension, -18 HZB, and 95-99% spin efficiency from a 4.5 release height, his FB plays to all quadrants well above its velocity. Deceptive, twisting delivery. Elbow lift+flip up+spiral are textbook and show his flexibility. Long levers and broad shoulders leave much room for projection.

6’3, 175. One of most unique draft follows in southeast this cycle. A top 1% MLB runner now w/ rare actions for age and experience. Improved upper half stack against stride putting hips+shoulders in position for consistent loft & adjustability to pitches in all locations. 2 barrels vs 90+ below. Once he makes contact w/ barrel in front of hands more consistently & advances physically, will tap into SERIOUS power. Footwork, range, hands all exceptional. 17 @ draft, endless ceiling.

Shows significant twitch for long levered, 6’5 200 frame well before physical maturity. Combined with his ability to change heights, speeds, and locations he’s easily one of the most projectable arms in southeast for class. Standout angle and well A/AVG MLB extension (7.0) play up his well controlled, 4 pitch arsenal.

Noticeable improvements to the delivery over past year - Build of pace, connection of AA to largest throwing muscles, arm pace, well timed space, and ability to hold upper half counter rotation at front hip clearance.

Shout out to WF coach @coach.richardmarte for his work with Grant.

6’3, 185. Continued to show one of biggest outlier 4 SM in class (15-18 IVB, 16-20 HZB) w/ 14 FB whiffs, 7 K’s in 4 INN @ #BeastOfTheEast

Rare to see a plus delivery & AA at 16 yrs old, especially in an active growth spurt. Here are the exceptional delivery traits

•Ideal build of pace for ease of operation
•Posture down slope & thru release (chest over shoelaces)
•Rhythm between glove & lift knee promotes good hand break timing (@ hip release)
•Arm action works at exact pace of the stride
•Effortless arm swing builds gradual momentum, stays close to & working with largest throwing muscles
•Good elbow spiral
•Sits deep in hip hinge w/o collapsing, rotates out of it explosively
•Back knee angled toward catcher as he works down slope
•Maximizes space between arm action & front arm lever+stride foot just b4 landing
•Slow coil @ pace of stride creates internal pressure, holds upper half counter rotation against front hip clearance for stretch
•Closed foot lander w/ good direction
•Softer landing for optimal weight distro
•Ideal sequence in external phase of throw (front hip➡️front arm lever➡️core➡️chest➡️elbow➡️hand)

Shocking display of🧃as he sends one ACROSS THE STREET at Brook Run Park for solo 💣 🤯

Already showing exceptional bat speed+strength @ ground floor of physical ceiling, it’s easy to project 6 raw power (conservatively). Great example of how to deliver barrel w/ hands late in path (in front of body). Shows exceptional hand-eye vs big velo & stuff. Instinctive & accurate from all angles at SS. Current A/AVG runner.

Fluid, sequenced move w/ controlled, well timed pace. Advanced separation timing allows him to maximize space & stretch. Elite torque in barrel tip only adds to rotational acceleration. Holds coil in stride exceptionally well, rare ability to maintain internal connection (on inside back foot) thru turn. Ideal weight distro in upper half for loft.

From bullpen to game in his Wow Factor debut 🥶🥶🥶

Methodical approach from warmup routine to calculated tunnels & mirrors throughout pen. A live, late tailing 4 SM (carry up, sink down) gives way to easily one of the best breaking balls in class. The sweeper is 2.7k - 2.9k RPM flashing 20+ HZB. Shows a heavy kick CH of similar quality. Premium pitchability and stuff for age.

Also makes impact as LHH w/ clean swing mechanics and standout bat 2 ball skills. Very good defender for age at 1B.

1st pitch seen of WF career, 1st pitch 🚀 HR

Trio of⚡️fast twitch, textbook weight distro, short swing length produce violent impact & ideal ball flight. Times fwd move w/ pitch release and slowly stretches load @ pace of stride to maximize space and elastic recoil. Noticeable bat strength w/ 🪵. Loud start to a big future with #TheBrand

5’10 155. Advanced PR & decision making put him in hitters counts all weekend, slashing .545/.643/1.552 with 7 R, 3 XBH, 6 RBI. Produced ideal backspin to all fields w/ wood. Dangerous trio of fast twitch, bat speed, and short swing length. Shows exceptional rhythm, timing, and ability to repeat high level mechanics. Very good anticipation, reads, routes in OF. Baseball addict.

Showed why he’s P4P one of the most impactful swings in class

•Hands above ball
•Body control at high intent
•Top hand+back shoulder turn as 1 - creates barrel speed early in path, puts barrel in zone early, turn behind ⚾️
•Bat speed, force in hands thru contact, accelerates thru contact
•On-plane efficiency (top hand+back elbow hold place as he rotates)
•Ideal timing for release point & contact points
•Ability to create high level stretch in compact space while keeping hands close to hitting zone.
•Head stays down thru contact

6’2, 205. Future every day MLB catcher or corner IF with All-Star potential. Offensive profile shows all characteristics to be a future A/AVG (55) or better hit tool w/ AVG or better Power Pro. Multidimensional approach pitchers can’t plan for, unpredictable. Just as likely to go 1st pitch 💣 as he is 12 pitch BB. Quarterback of the defense - advanced pitch calling, receiving, awareness. Great communicator, knows hitter’s tendencies. 1.98 to 2.05 pop times in game this spring.

What makes him a future 55 or better bat?

•Pro Approach - Cover the outer half, react inside
•Elite pitch recognition, accurate processing+decision making, natural and trained adjustability
•Controls effort in swing like a pro, never taking undisciplined 100% hacks. Stays 70-85%.
•Head/eyes stay down on ball thru contact
•Lets ⚾️ travel - Backside dominant hitter (head stays stacked over inside of back hip). More time to process movement+location & more time to react.
•Rare swing mechanics - Ability to turn barrel in compact space, precise adjustability for each pitch location (shoulder planes, swing direction, arm adjustments). Elite top hand+back shoulder connection, elbows work close to body, shoulders always on pitch 🛬
•Rare hand-eye coordination
•Rare timing - When to move & be in position to hit relative to pitchers delivery, great feel for location based contact points
•Quickly understands pitcher’s approach vs him & tendencies
•Walks twice as much as he K’s
•50% oppo, 50% pull batted ball profile
•Exceptional with 2 strikes. Wastes pitches with ease
•Perfect hitter mindset. QAB’s & barrels over hits, not results based
•Confidence is unwavering
•OUTLIER MLB bloodlines

The next Brian McCann.

Actions & intangibles years ahead of his age in all facets of game. Noticeable ease of effort on difficult plays and in box. Shows rare anticipation+instincts, 6th sense for reading hops, efficient footwork, natural ability to field w/ 1 hand, and accurate throws from all angles.

This is a player w/ disciplined approach and swing decisions who controls effort at high level. Made key adjustments to swing mechanics this offseason - Pre setting barrel near launch, simplifying movement, starting move early & slow for increased timing of release points, and better separation timing. All leading to a complete player well b4 physical strength.
