What a fantastic weekend filled with history, friendship, and community! 💜

Kicked things off at the East Texas Historical Association, where I had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussing the 1919 Longview Remembrance Project and the importance of confronting and preserving our shared history. Then, I got to sit back and watch my incredible director, Rebecca Sharpless, receive some very well-deserved recognition for her latest work. Watching someone who has shaped so much of my own journey as a historian get her flowers was a special treat.

From there, it was off to Lufkin for dinner, downtown wandering, and some much-needed time with one of my besties, Alicia. And after an early start the next morning, I was back in Longview for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, supporting a cause incredibly close to my heart.

A weekend full of meaningful conversations, cherished friendships, important causes, and reminders of why I love the communities I’m fortunate enough to be part of. My heart (and my calendar!) is full. by @mlmayflower

After watching the Jack Smith hearing, something is pretty clear. We’ve had unethical politicians in the past. Immoral. Corrupt. But I’m not sure that we’ve ever had so many just absolutely ate up with stupidity. by @mlmayflower

Had an amazing weekend! Went to spend time with Briana, Carolyn, Autumn, and Thomas. Checked out an aquarium, Rainforest Cafe, and Legoland. Then it was over to Dallas for a combo birthday party.
