COVID-19 has not ended and state surveillance is more alive than ever. Stay masked (preferably a N95 or KN95) to protect yourself and your communities!

Read MLOU the Artist's original comic "Feelings" for FREE this weekend when you subscribe to the Hello Barkada newsletter by Friday, October 2. Sign-up at tinyurl.com/hellobarkadanews or from the link in bio.

"Feelings" first appeared in the print issue of Isang Mahal no. 4, Hello Barkada's flagship compzine. Reflecting on the issue's theme of realness, MLOU illustrates a situation that I found myself closely relating to. I know those voices written outside and around the central character. I can see who they belong to in my life. I've known those messages since childhood; they are internalized as well as re-experienced IRL when I am around those people.

So, I fully appreciate how the comic also models language I can practice out loud, to connect me with healing, and help protect me from further psychological and emotional harm. And it also reminds me that I am positioned to break this generational curse.

Follow MLOU at @mloutheartist and sign up for the Hello Barkada newsletter by October 2, 2026 to read the comic "Feelings" for free starting this weekend! tinyurl.com/hellobarkadanews by @mloutheartist

building alternative forms of care, expression, and education. that’s what these drawings are inspired by :)

over the years, i’ve had the opportunity to be part of organized efforts with people in my community to build free food programs, political education, and engage in zine making. wouldn’t live life any other way!

if you’re an artist, here’s a gentle call-in to be part of the local mutual aid efforts happening in ur community! as an artist, there’s an opportunity to uplift and share movements with what we create!! plus having someone that can design graphics is always helpful!

tap into what’s happening in your backyard. give free water to your unhoused neighbors. get to know your neighbors and build something beautiful with each other.

we are all that we have <3 ☻ by @mloutheartist

this heatwave is killer (literally!) this type of drastic weather will impact and harm so many folks who do not have regular access to shelter and drinking water.

this is comic to urge you to share cold water with your neighbors and/or support local groups that are doing the work 🩵

if you're local in OC, consider supporting @thepeoplescoalition_ fundraiser to buy water/electrolytes for our community <3

explaining my gender in tagalog (kinda)
🇵🇭 🏳️‍⚧️

i realized i never posted about this zine but its my most popular one! i made this in 2022 based on a real letter i wrote to my family in the philippines trying to….explain my gender!

i felt like there were very little resources at the time for trans filipinos in the diaspora let alone trans and nonbinary filipinos. so i decided to make my own to help others explain/come out to their friends and family.

this zine will be available today at @thesundayjump in Historic Filipino Town ^__^
