From idea to curtain call, three full months of tireless work; from opening to final concert, nearly one month.
Today I can officially announce: “Mandy’s Music House — Indochina Cross-Cultural Project · Season One” has COME TO A SUCCESSFUL CLOSE!

6 concerts, 2 workshops, 1 lecture— ALL SOLD OUT & FULL HOUSE.

Thank you to every friend who has been supporting and staying with us, and to Dr. Murchana — flown in from India — for bringing pure Indian classical music to China and, together with amazing musicians from across the country for, completing six rare, never-repeated cross-cultural collaboration concerts:
Indian Classical × Flamenco (2 sets) (at Lincoln Jazz Center in Shanghai)
Indian Classical × Jazz (at JZ Club in Shanghai)
Indian Classical × Synthesizer (at JZ Club in Hangzhou)
Indian Classical × Live Coding × Jazz Drums (at Enlightening in Guangzhou)
Indian Classical × Spiritual Jazz (at Malt House Jazz Club in Nanning)
Each night a one-off spark.

In addition, two workshops were held: one at Aether Handpan in Shanghai and one at Tiger On The Tree Vinyl in Guangzhou, as well as a lecture at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in Hangzhou.

An initiative by Chinese tabla player Mandy Chen, this personal project aims to bring outstanding Indian musicians to China, fostering cross-cultural dialogue through collaborative performances that merge Indian classical traditions with the artistry of renowned local musicians.

India — More Than One Story 🇮🇳

Having visited India many times, I’ve learned that no single visit can tell you what India really is.

This time, I saw a country where ancient traditions and modern ambitions exist side by side.

From historic monuments and international gatherings to vibrant streets and quiet coastal life, every place revealed a different side of India.

I watched centuries-old art forms come alive, heard the rhythms of traditional drums, and experienced the simple beauty of everyday life in Kerala.

I also met young people from around the world, sharing laughter, cultures, and perspectives.

The more I see of India, the more I realize that understanding a country takes more than looking at its landmarks or reading its headlines.

Sometimes, you have to slow down, look closer, and experience it for yourself.

Because India is more than one story.

And I’m still discovering mine.

It was an honor to be invited to attend the 157th Gandhi Jayanti and International Day of Non-Violence commemorative event hosted by the Consulate General of India in Shanghai.

Consul General Mr. Pratik Mathur, joined by Consuls General of BRICS countries, Indian community leaders from the region, and Chinese friends including family members of the original group of Satyagrahis from China, Mr. Shanti Tseng, paid floral tributes and homage to Gandhiji.

Music knows no borders. Being able to take part in this meaningful occasion through the Indian classical music that I have devoted myself to learning and love has reminded me once again of the power of music to connect people and cultures.

Just before the BRICS Summit officially begins, we visited the BRICS Bazaar to explore traditional crafts and cultural treasures from BRICS member and partner countries.

I’m truly honored to have been invited by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Consulate General of India in Shanghai to be part of this special delegation visiting India.

It was such a special moment to cheer each other on with friends from different countries. 🌍✨

At the China pavilion, we also met an artist from Chengdu, who was showcasing the traditional art of bamboo weaving.It’s a proud moment to see Chinese culture being shared on this international stage. 🇨🇳

I also look forward to seeing more cultural and youth engagements between China and India in the future. 🇨🇳🇮🇳 @meaindia @indiainshanghai
