🥁🎺✨ PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT: MARCH MADNESS MARCHING BAND

Did somebody order a little MADNESS under the moon?! 🌕🤪

We’re turning up the volume for our next Under the Harvest Moon performer: Lexington’s own March Madness Marching Band!

MMMB describes itself as an all-volunteer community-building organization disguised as a marching band, and frankly, that tells you almost everything you need to know.

This gloriously unconventional crew brings together musicians, dancers and color guard performers of all ages and experience levels, serving up joyous music, movement, color and pure Lexington energy wherever they go. 🎺🥁🌈💃

You may have caught them at Lexington Pride, Kenwick Porch Fest, Tahlsound, DiverCity or one of the many parades and festivals they’ve happily invaded around Central Kentucky.

And now they’re bringing the MADNESS to Moondance!

This Harvest Moon is getting wonderfully weird, y’all🌙✨

What’s up Tahlsound! ! ! 📣

Thank you all for an amazing season 10 finale collaboration featuring performances by Original Big 7, Red Flame Hunters, Trip Bratton’s Blue Brass All Stars, and a parade through the field by March Madness Marching Band. The kids loved Little Magic Music (as always) plus guests Zu Zu Ya Ya from Louisville performed a set of Dr John that transported us straight to Louisiana!

We’ve had a big time this year in the Southland neighborhood and beyond, and can’t wait to see you in 2027 👋

The final installment of the 2026 Tahlsound Concert Series has arrived!

This year’s “From the Bayou to the Bluegrass” (A Celebration of Louisiana in Kentucky) features Lexington’s own March Madness Marching Band + The Blue Brass All-Stars alongside a direct collaboration with two community dance troupes from New Orleans: Original Big 7 Social Aid and Pleasure Club Inc. and Red Flame Hunters All Youth Indian Tribe.

And if that isn’t exciting enough, we welcome Louisville’s Zu Zu Ya Ya as they present - The Music of Dr. John (aka The Night Tripper)

Mark your calendars for Sunday August 23 and join us in Lexington, KY at the Oleika Temple Great Lawn.

Following a morning of FastCAT competition, Her Majesty made a surprise appearance at Lexington Pride for her very first Pride Festival 🌈

Thea proudly walked in the parade alongside the March Madness Band, greeted countless attendees, accepted admiration from her loyal subjects, and made many new friends throughout the day.

From cheering crowds and pounding drums to endless excitement and stimulation, she handled every moment with remarkable confidence, grace, and composure. Watching her navigate such a high-energy environment with calm curiosity made this royal father incredibly proud.

Today was a beautiful reminder that kindness, acceptance, and community matter — and that everyone deserves a safe place to belong.

The Queen was honored to share the day with friends Clark, Iko, and Phee, and extends her gratitude to everyone who stopped to say hello along the parade route.
