🥁🎺✨ PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT: MARCH MADNESS MARCHING BAND

Did somebody order a little MADNESS under the moon?! 🌕🤪

We’re turning up the volume for our next Under the Harvest Moon performer: Lexington’s own March Madness Marching Band!

MMMB describes itself as an all-volunteer community-building organization disguised as a marching band, and frankly, that tells you almost everything you need to know.

This gloriously unconventional crew brings together musicians, dancers and color guard performers of all ages and experience levels, serving up joyous music, movement, color and pure Lexington energy wherever they go. 🎺🥁🌈💃

You may have caught them at Lexington Pride, Kenwick Porch Fest, Tahlsound, DiverCity or one of the many parades and festivals they’ve happily invaded around Central Kentucky.

And now they’re bringing the MADNESS to Moondance!

This Harvest Moon is getting wonderfully weird, y’all🌙✨

This weekend was a meaningful reflection of the many diverse ways our Lexington community comes together. Solemn moments of remembrance and reflection. Celebrating culture and heritage. And simply having some lighthearted fun.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, I joined our community at Phoenix Park to honor the lives lost and the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger that day. Later, it was an honor to help dedicate Lexington’s new Global War on Terror Memorial at Veterans Park, remembering nine Lexington service members who gave their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Saturday morning began at the Lexington Roots & Heritage Festival 3K at The Historic Lyric Theater. This 3rd annual race was dedicated to peace, youth protection, and supports local Black student-athlete scholarships and youth program support.

And then Lexington got a little bananas! Banana Ball made its first-ever stop at the Lexington Legends' CommonSpirit Ballpark, bringing a wonderfully wild mix of baseball, entertainment and just plain fun to the Bluegrass.

What’s up Tahlsound! ! ! 📣

Thank you all for an amazing season 10 finale collaboration featuring performances by Original Big 7, Red Flame Hunters, Trip Bratton’s Blue Brass All Stars, and a parade through the field by March Madness Marching Band. The kids loved Little Magic Music (as always) plus guests Zu Zu Ya Ya from Louisville performed a set of Dr John that transported us straight to Louisiana!

We’ve had a big time this year in the Southland neighborhood and beyond, and can’t wait to see you in 2027 👋
