* ta-da!*

With pleasure and satisfaction, we present to you, the third installment of abracadabra❢

Conceived of as a sort of subversive almanac, this issue isn’t so interested in outlining a predictable schedule for the year to come so much as musing on the potential we have to mold our days with our intentions, to wander mindfully through the labyrinths of our lives, and to consider the powers derived from relating to time as a friend, a companion, and witness to the mysteries ever-present around us… even right now❢

Featuring contributions from a magnificent array of talented wizards:

𑜷 @annerbuck
𑜷 @timothy.a.breen
𑜷 @madalynstefanak
𑜷 @fermentedalien

We are also so grateful to our sponsors @visitor.fyi, @radioalhara, and @finestra.conversation.cards, and to @foxfiremountainhouse for supplying the foliage for our glamour shots 𖦹 Thank you more please 𖦹

abracadabra x abracadabra!

❋ Ta-da! ❋

We were honored to be tasked with designing the artwork for Oakland homies @abracadabra.band’s EP, which @afantano called “undeniably Groovy,” and came out this summer on @Melodic_Records. The music is spectacular, and we had such a blast working with them crystalizing their Tom Tom Club-inspired vision via doodles sourced from the record’s lyrics and themes.

It’s been so rewarding watching all the accolades pour in for them with such a stellar release. We encourage you to give ‘em a listen, throw ‘em a follow, and cop one of their limited run CDs (which come with an adorable lyric zine) from their Bandcamp at their link in bio.

We intend to collaborate with every abracadabra entity out there…. If you’re one of them, our people will be in touch with your people (or simply slide into our dms) 🌀🌀🌀

We highlighted a few other recent abracadabra! studio projects in our newsletter this morning. Link in bio to read up 💌

This summer we celebrated 2 years of abracadabra! magic & i'm feeling reflective 🌟 I can't believe how far we've come from a single conversation at a coffee shop, to making a world of publications including this holographic flexi disc with a meditation by the one & only Dr. J ;) thankful for all of our contributors & printers over the past 2 years who have helped make this dream possible. by @mmmunder

❋ ta-da❢ ❋

Without further ado, we graciously present the seventh issue of abracadabra❢ ~ WIND MUSEUM 🪁

Last year, after wrapping up our first season of the zine, Maddy and I put our heads together for some deep dreaming and manifesting about how the next year of publications would take shape. While there were many mysteries still to uncover, one decision crystallized from the ether ~ we wanted to do a kite issue. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that several of our favorite artists, most admired creatives, and multi-talented pals would deliver us a string of wind surfing diamonds of the caliber we humbly received.

Normally, we ask contributors to submit a jpg or some words, a mantra or doodle. This time we asked each artist to construct a functional, flying kite from scratch (even the Magician’s Assistant!). The decimal submissions we received were sent via mail or cheerfully delivered to my doorstep, where I greeted friends and new friends alike to chitchat about their creations, learning about their processes and our mutual admiration of wind arts. What a dream! 𖦹 Thank you more please 𖦹

Documenting these wind wonders was also going to be a challenge: one that could only be trusted to a triple air sign. Enter @leahwendzinski, photographer extraordinaire, who spent a day with us flying the kites as a kite train and documenting these puppies in their element.

We also decided we needed to show these kites off in person, which we did, on a perfect summer night @middle__brow. Nestled between the wooden canopy hung our beloved sky diamonds for all to see, blowin’ in the windy city breeze for the wonderful folks who came to share in the spectacle of our contributors’ whimsical works. Our hearts go out to everyone who stopped by the function, picked up a copy of the mag, and celebrated the craftsmanship of Wind Museum’s creators.
