Today pastor Byron spoke about the Law of Connection: people are more likely to be moved when you first connect with their hearts.

But when I look at Scripture, I see something even deeper.

Jesus connected before He called.

He wept with Mary and Martha before raising Lazarus.
He walked with the disciples on the road to Emmaus before their eyes were opened.
And those disciples later said:

“Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road?” — Luke 24:32

Jesus didn’t treat people like projects.

He saw them.
He listened.
He walked with them.
He entered into their world.

Then He called them higher.

Sometimes ministry doesn’t begin with a sermon.

Sometimes it begins with a meal, a conversation, a seat at the table, and letting someone know, “You matter. You belong here.”

Jesus said:

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” — Matthew 25:35

Maybe connection isn’t just a leadership principle.

Maybe it’s part of what it means to love people the way Christ loved us.

Connect.
Listen.
Love.
Serve.
Then point people to Jesus.

Because sometimes before someone is ready to hear what you have to say, they simply need to know that someone is willing to sit at the table with them. by @mmpt.02

In a few days five months ago, I went under the water.
And when I came back up, my life was not perfect.
But it was different.
I didn’t suddenly become a perfect man. I still stumble. I still have things God is working on in me. I still have moments where I have to acknowledge my sin, repent, and get back on the path.
But I know this:
I am not the man I used to be.
There was a time when I was in a pit so deep that I almost didn’t make it out alive.
I had lost myself. I had lost purpose. I was carrying things I didn’t know how to carry.
And then God met me there.
He didn’t just pull me out.
He brought me back to life.
Five months ago, I publicly gave my life to Christ through baptism at C3 Church, with Pastor Byron, my wife, my uncle, and my aunt there as witnesses.
And since that day, God has continued doing more in my life than I could have ever imagined.
He has given me purpose.
He has surrounded me with brothers and sisters in Christ.
He has placed people in my life who have challenged me, encouraged me, corrected me, prayed for me, and helped me grow.
I am thankful for my pastor @byronbledsoe, my life coach @thedanpowell, my friends in Christ, my wife @goldenwifey_ and every person God has used to help me become the man He is calling me to be.

And I know some people probably look at me and think:
“He’s doing too much.”
Maybe I am.
But if I’m being “too much,” it’s because He has done too much for me.
How could I experience what I experienced and stay quiet?
How could I know what it feels like to be in that pit, to come so close to giving up, and then experience God giving me another life… and not want other people to know that there is hope?
So yes, I’m going to talk about Jesus.
Yes, I’m going to serve.
Yes, I’m going to pray.
Yes, I’m going to encourage people.
Yes, I’m going to keep learning.
Yes, I’m going to keep trying to honor God in everything I do.
And yes, I’m probably going to be “too much” sometimes.
Because He has been too much for me.
He didn’t just make my life a little better.
He gave me my life back.
And now I believe He didn’t pull me out of that pit just so I could forget what it looked like.

I grew up in a Catholic Church and family.

I heard the prayers.
I even tried them myself.
I knew about God…
But I didn’t truly know Him.

For years, faith felt like a routine instead of a relationship until I stopped going…

I knew about the bible, but I wasn’t reading it. I wasn’t allowing Gods word to shape my life.
Actually I was pretty far from it.

A few months ago, God led me somewhere that challenged me to do more than attend church.
He called me to follow Jesus.

I was baptized again, without even understanding the level of commitment I was getting myself into…
But let me tell you: I haven’t felt a bigger purpose before in life, I haven’t felt His presence in my life before as I’ve had lately.

Today I’m reading the Bible, studying it, interpreting it and allowing it to shape my life and my family.
Today I’m serving alongside brothers and sisters who have shown me what the Church was always meant to be: people loving one another, carrying each other’s burdens, encouraging one another, and pointing everything back to Jesus.

I’ve learned that the Church isn’t just a building or a denomination.
It’s the body of Christ.

Jesus didn’t call us simply to hear His words.
He called us to obey them.

“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46)

I’m still learning. I’m still growing. But for the first time, I understand the beauty of being part of His Church—not just attending it.

Day 18.

I don’t know where this journey will lead.

I just know I don’t want to stop.

Every day I pray that God would use my hands, my time, and my life to love people well.

If tomorrow looks like today, I’ll be grateful.

One meal at a time.
