You know it’s going to be a long post. Feel free to not read 🤣
.
First of all, praise God for the ability he’s given me! I am thankful everyday for Christ’s love for me, His work on the cross and that my identity is only in Him! There’s a dichotomy of thought: belts mean nothing vs. belts mean everything. On one hand, it’s just a colored piece of material wrapped around my waist that has changed over the years. On the other, it represents so much time, effort, energy, growth, sweat, love, sadness but above all perseverance - and is a direct representation of all these things. To me, it actually represents my family’s belief in me and putting up with crazy training schedules at times, my Nexus family’s belief in me that I can represent them well, my Jiu Jitsu Foundation family in that they provided me the best start at this sport. My love for jiu jitsu has only grown over time in different facets. Not a love of winning, but a love of growth, especially mentally, a love of the community, a love of the game itself, and a continued love of learning. I think the dichotomy is real because yes, this belt means a lot to me! However, I’m still the same person, with the same goals and will be in class today learning just like everyone else. Thank you to everyone who’s believed in me, who’s encouraged me and continues to push me day after day. I love you all! taken in Nexus American Jiu Jitsu by @mnddcksn

You all are the future! Love the hard work, dedication and discipline every one of them displays. I’m so incredibly thankful to be part of your journey and to have the privilege to be your coach. It is an absolute joy to watch you all grow in all facets of your lives. This tournament was just so different. It was really fun and hard and I loved every minute of it. Won my first match and lost in the semi finals to a great opponent - so third for my weight class! I even did the open class! I lost my first match but it was such a good experience. Still hate closed guard 🤣
.
Praise God for His provision - that I get to do something I love and to honor Him with my joy for this sport. I used to idolize winning and a loss would crush me or I would think my jiu jitsu wasn’t good, but that’s not true at all! It’s because my priorities were wrong - having them in the right order allows for me to still be thankful and joyful in the losses.
.
Thank you @reckless_audio for always being supportive and encouraging me when I’m just down. You always have my back yet always nudge me on to be better 💕 also to my folks who love and support my endeavors
.
My team is amazing! I’m so thankful for @nexus_ajj and all my training partners who push me so hard! @gannon_lang is such a gifted professor who really understands how to unlock parts or your game that you didn’t know were missing or incomplete.

Huge thank you to @jordanpatrickfitness for coaching me on and off the mats! You are a true gem

Master Worlds 2023 was all about the new things. Playing guard more, adding new guards, new concepts, and changing/removing the things that don’t work for me.
.
Praise God, first, for giving me the ability to travel and compete. For reminding me time and again that my worth is not rather or not I reach the podium. All glory to Him!
