📣 ECS 2027 CHOREOGRAPHER APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

After almost four years, Mare Nostrum Elements’ Emerging Choreographer Series (ECS) is back—and applications for the ECS 2027 cohort are now open!

Five NYC-based choreographers will be selected to create and premiere a new 8–12 minute work at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center - @lpacinnyc

ECS provides the time, resources, mentorship, and production support to move your idea from its earliest stages to a fully produced performance:

• $1,000 choreographic fee

• $18/hr rehearsal fee for dancers
• $300 performance stipend for dancers
• Up to 35 hours of free rehearsal space

• Professional development and one-on-one dramaturgical mentorship

• Work-in-progress feedback from peers and industry leaders

• Professional photo and video documentation

• Two fully produced performances at LPAC

No application fees. No production fees. No rental costs.

We welcome emerging choreographers across all dance forms, styles, and cultural perspectives.

You don’t need a finished piece—we’re looking for a compelling new idea, a clear artistic vision, and the potential for growth.

Our hearts are with our dear friend and Chair of our Board of Trustees, Amy Harrison, as she mourns the loss of her beloved mother.

Through the years, we came to know of Amy’s mother through the love and stories Amy shared with us, and we know how deeply she supported and encouraged Amy and her work in the arts.

Mare Nostrum Elements sends its deepest condolences, love, and strength to Amy and her family during this difficult time. by @mnelements

A beautiful weekend celebrating the @rovacodance Festival 2026, founded and directed by Rohan Bhargava—ECS alum, MNE Programs & Marketing Manager, and Founder & Artistic Director of Rovaco Dance Company. ✨

It was wonderful to see Rohan’s choreographic work take the stage at The Mark O’Donnell Theater, brought to life by the incredible Rovaco dancers, alongside work by @ishitamili and @imgedance , a short play by @nationalqueertheater ; and live music by @compass_trio and the duo @iamsonnysingh and @miwilalupa

And, of course, the celebration wouldn’t have been complete without the incredible Indian snacks and drinks by resident chef @ashmita_91 !

We loved seeing so many familiar faces from the MNE family there to support Rohan and celebrate a weekend of dance, music, food, and community.

💛 One of the things we value most about ECS is staying connected to our artists and continuing to support the work they create and produce.

Congratulations to Rohan, the Rovaco dancers, and all the artists and collaborators who made this year’s festival possible!

More from @rovacodance coming soon 🙌 taken in The Mark O'Donnell Theater at Entertainment Community Fund Arts Center by @mnelements
