“Cowboying is an art in itself”

In collaboration with @mo_tric our photographic shirt-dresses walked this year’s Embellished runway 🐄🩷

A night all about showing off the crazy talented people of the area - I had the idea to ask if Mo might be interested in making the collab frocks in my mind. A friend and mentor and inspiration - I was so excited when she agreed 🤠

Michelle’s series titled Florida Cowboys documents the generational cowboy culture of swfl, on the ground in her boots at the ranch she captured their story and has shared the beauty of real Florida Cowboys in a traveling rodeo, exhibition back in 2021, art prints and so much more

Ive know Michelle as long as I can remember and back in high school I assisted her on many shoots and projects - one being painting text on the wall for her exhibit (2021 photos at the end) its been fantastic collabing with her as she was huge in shaping the artist I am today. Our frocks are for sale or custom order!

Art and rodeo culture have more in common than you’d think.

Both demand presence. Both tell stories that are bigger than words. Both ask you to show up and give it everything.

Installing the Florida Cowboys exhibition by @mo_tric at the Arcadia Rodeo was an exercise in meeting a space on its own terms, reading the walls, feeling the scale, and trusting the work to do what great art always does.

When it came together, the two worlds didn’t just coexist. They understood each other.

Some projects remind you why you do this work. 🤍

Florida Cowboys is photographer Michelle Tricca’s documentation of the people behind South Florida’s cattle industry, their faces, their land, their story. The Hardee County Civic Center Show Barn is the first stop of the series, now traveling across the region.

FreddieFred Creative handled the install. Drove in, gloves on, empty barn walls waiting. Watching Michelle’s vision go from rolls of vinyl to something that fills a barn with that kind of presence while creating an experience for visitors, that’s the part that stays with you.

Grateful to be trusted with work this meaningful. Every detail handled with care, the way it deserves.

More locations to come.

Bringing the Florida Cowboys exhibit to the Hardee County Civic Center. ☁️🖼️
Artists do more than create the work, they plan how it lives in a space. This first installation at the Hardee County Civic Center is a testament to Michelle Tricca’s vision for a large-scale, outdoor experience.
This project highlights the deep care artists put into the presentation of their work. It has been a privilege to begin to facilitate and install the first of several locations for the Florida Cowboys exhibition across Hardee Hendry, Glades and DeSoto County’s turning meticulous plans into a large-scale outdoor reality.
Be part of Arts and Agriculture, as the Florida Cowboys exhibit celebrates the heart of the local community.
The exhibition remains on view through March 30.

Learn about the inspiring story of a visionary leader realizing her dream, thoughtfully written by @naplesillustratedmag Editor in Chief Jane Enos. It was an honor to photograph Kristen and her adoring, supportive right-hand-man Michael Wynn for the November 2024 Arts & Culture issue.
