Moab trail marathon over the decade: 2022 was the year of the flood! Main Street Moab made the news, but the flooding on the course was even more significant. But no problem for our crew who built a floating walkway to make it across the deep stuff. And no problem for the runners who braved the icy cold water-- 1/2 marathoners ran for nearly a mile in the water, and marathoners and 5ker were soaked running through the flooded course adjacent the river. Needless to say, there was no close-in parking this year...the parking area was flooded. Some top runners were at worlds but upcoming top runners stepped up and ran super-fast times-- Klaire Rhodes and Brian Whitfield won the National Championships! by @moabtrailmarathon

Moab Trail Marathon over the decades: 2021 was an amazing year! Weather was great and times were fast, super-fast! Adam and Allie took top honors second year in a row! This was also a year in memory of friends in the running community whom we recently lost-- cancer had recently took two close friends Emma Roca and Chris Martinez, and we also lost my son's best friend Israel and his dad Vilsar by a reckless driver. Their memories were with us, and we realized and appreciated how lucky we were to be out there running and enjoying this beautiful land and our racing community. This year we were also joined by a herd of over 100 cows. Not planned...but the cattle drive was the same day as the race. All ran peacefully together and made for some good laughs. by @moabtrailmarathon

2020: We are proud to say that we were one of very very few 'in person' races that survived covid! Many changes took place to assure the safety of the runners, staff and volunteers, but the course remained the same: beautiful and challenging! And USATF Trail Marathon champions Allie McLaughlin and Adam Peterman had amazing performances! When I reviewed the participant race photos I could not believe how many 'leap' photos there were! 100's! The world needed this run in 2020, and we were proud to pull it off with flying colors! masked finishers taken in Kane Creek Park by @moabtrailmarathon

Moab Trail Marathon over the last decade 2019:
2019 was in memory of Taz. He was the inspiration for the race and my hero. He made it 17 amazing years and is the reason i'm alive and that the race happens every year. Love you Taz! We snuck the race in just before the covid shutdown and it was an amazing year for the Moab Trail Marathon; with a course record and the most enthusiastic runners in the history of the race. Taz is the reason for the race. He passed in 2019 and the race is in his memory. Run Like Taz! by @moabtrailmarathon

Moab Trail Marathon the last decade: 2018.
2018 was a beautiful year! Smooth as silt with an amazing crew and great weather. Anthony Costales and Rachel Drake took top honors. It was a year that reminded me of why I do this-- amazing people and amazing landscapes. Anthony Costales, USATF Champion! by @moabtrailmarathon

Moab Trail Marathon the last decade:
2017 the wind and dust storms at the finish line didn't stop the smiles (although did send a port-o-potty flying through the venue...no one hurt...). Mario Mendoza returned for another victory and the USATF marathon champs, and Renee Metivier edges out Sandi Nypaver for the win. 2017 was the first year of the Sunday Half, which has turned into a trail runners favorite with its grassroots feel and field of talented, and true trail runners! Moab Trail Marathon over the last decade: 2016 was an amazing year! Eritrean runners Azerya Weldermar and Alex Yersak won the overall Full and Half Marathon; and using test-ride Scarpa shoes for the first time! Sage Canaday finished just 23 seconds behind to win the National Championship and Addie Bracy won for the women. Azerya Weldermar takes to the ropes section by @moabtrailmarathon

Moab Trail Marathon over the last decade.
2015 wasn't without excitement-- pre race flooding led to some soaking wet half-marathon finishers who hit the deep spots of Kane Creek. The electricity went out in town but there was plenty of energy at the start line! Congrats to Mario Mendoza and Megan Kimmel, 2015 Trail Marathon National Champs. Moab Trail Marathon over the last decade:
Ten years ago, in 2013 the Moab Trail Half was the USATF Trail Half Marathon National Championships. 2023 will again be the Half Marathon Championship! Course records were set in 2013, Joe Gray 1:23:23 and Stevie Kremer 1:38:08. Can 2023 be year to break the course records? Approaching the ropes by @moabtrailmarathon
