👑 Congratulations to our 2024 Queen Monica Mendoza and King Yeison Jimenez!

🇵🇪👸🏽Queen Monica is the Champion of the “Marinera Norteña,” the National Dance of Peru. She represents Tradicion Peruana Cultural Center. She is honored to be Queen of Carnaval because it will give her the opportunity to have a broad platform to promote cultivate and share Peruvian Culture to our Community. She loves Carnaval in SF because it is an event that brings every community together where people can share their culture and explore other cultures!

🇨🇴🤴🏽King Yeison is a Colombian dancer who has always dreamed about being one. He trained more than anyone to reach this goal since 2010, and he did it thanks to each dance teacher, dance school, and carnaval he had in his hometown, Neiva, Colombia. Since that time, he has decided to share the passion and love he has for dancing. His goal as King is to show you all what love, passion, and hard work can do and also why we should keep loving our Carnavals!

👏 Give it up one more time for Queen @mocangie and King @yeisonjimenezv !! And thank you @kqed for being a marvelous partner ♥️

🇵🇪❤️ October 7 | Marinera Day

Today I celebrate a dance that has been part of my life since I was a little girl and, over the years, became one of the most important parts of who I am. ❤️🤍

Marinera has given me stages, competitions, unforgettable lessons, friendships, students, and above all, the opportunity to represent my Peru and share our culture beyond our borders.

Every time I dance Marinera, I feel that same pride I’ve always had. And being able to teach it and watch it grow through new generations makes my commitment to our dance even greater.

Marinera is not just a dance to me… it is identity, passion, history, and love for my homeland. 🇵🇪❤️

Happy Marinera Day to everyone around the world who helps keep this beautiful tradition alive. ✨

¡Viva el Perú!
¡Viva nuestra gente linda, nuestra cultura y nuestras tradiciones! ❤️🤍❤️

✨ If Perú had a Met Gala moment… this would be my dream look 🇵🇪✨

A few of my favorite moments from one of my last performances in The Last Dance. ✨
Always representing. 🇵🇪❤️
It was an honor to take the stage and perform Valentina, a traditional Afro-Peruvian solo dance. I’m incredibly grateful for opportunities like this to share a piece of Peru through dance and celebrate the beauty, strength, and richness of our culture.
Every performance is a chance to keep our traditions alive and connect with others through art. Thank you to everyone who made this experience so special. Until the next stage. ❤️✨
