Many of our models and musicians have a disability, face racial discrimination in the industry; I have hand-picked motivated models, singers, and actors who need to package themselves for the business world. How to combine fashion & modeling, diversity advocacy, writing and more?! MODAL Founder Suzanne was commissioned by Yahoo Canada to write an Article for World MS Day, and they published it on their homepage... then it was picked up by Yahoo Style France and Yahoo News UK... which put it on the main international News and Style pages for ALL of Yahoo! Please read the article, I'm very proud of the Open Letter and it means a lot to me to share my story about continuing to model and push myself after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and two other severe neurological disorders in the space of just six months. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

💄Ciao friends MODAL is back for 2026, thank you for sticking with us through a hiatus. Kicking it off with our signature #ModelTip: I always advise my Models to bring a small kit to ALL photoshoots no matter what. I've had hairstylists bail, tons of MUAs not show up, a few times the designer didn't bring the clothing, and believe it or not one time on a job in London the photographer ghosted us!! In a perfect world the professionals each do their individual jobs, but any their model should be able to do her own PHOTOGRAPHIC makeup & hair.
💄 Models are artists, so be familiar with historical and artistic styles. In this killer album cover art recreation of jazz 🎺 genius Chet Baker's "I Get Chet;" After studying the album art closely and researching the HMU, I did it all myself. I have to say it came out banging! The garments were knocked out of the park by Head Stylist Allita Lee, and of course who else? the photos and album recreation by Doug Hansgate.
📸 We train our talent to be fashion professionals, not only models. Learn everything you can about the industry!! A model who can do their own photographic HMUA in a pinch, and understands the style & aesthetic of the creative brief quickly, is so much more bookable. That's money in the bank, baby!

I am devastated to hear about the passing of Reverend Jesse Jackson. He was a personal hero of mine as a little girl, as you can see in this charcoal drawing I did of the Democratic primary elections in 1984 🤷🏻‍♀️ Yeah, I was that kind of kid. My dad framed it and kept it in his office throughout his entire career, and now it hangs in mine! Rev. Jackson's leadership then and since has meant so much to me, and may he rest in power. Plus his episode of Saturday Night Live (The answer is MOOT!) with Ed Grimley was epic.

CODE BLUE!! 🥶 The City of Buffalo and most of WNY has officially declared Code Blue! That means conditions are dangerous, so warming stations for the homeless and anyone in need are set up around the city. 🙏🏼 This is a great time to think about donating to shelters.
- Winter clothing In all sizes from baby to adults & that includes plus size, they need coats, hats, gloves, lots of socks, scarves and any kind of winter wear. 🧤🧦🧣
- If you have old blankets or stuffed animals please donate them to a pet shelter. 🧸
- Money and food are always appreciated but sometimes we forget about donating things. $$ 🥫
- Women are especially appreciative of donated menstrual products. 🚺

There’s NYFW… and then there are shows that happen *during* NYFW week. They are not the same thing, and understanding that distinction is important if you’re serious about fashion!! Thanks Etsip Official for laying it out so clearly. I have seen a lot of emptied bank accounts and buckets of tears over people who were tricked by shady producers, or models who didn't do their due diligence. We care about you! We care about your career! 📝
"New York Fashion Week is an official calendar overseen by the @CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America). Designers who are on the @NYFW calendar are formally recognized, vetted, and programmed within the industry’s structure. That’s what gives NYFW its weight, its legacy, and its global respect.
At the same time, NYFW week also brings an influx of independent shows, presentations, pop-ups, and productions that take place around the City. And some are FAB! These shows are not “fake” or “less than” BUT they are not CFDA recognized NYFW shows. They exist alongside the week, not within the official framework.
• Same city. Same week.
• Very different lanes.
This isn’t about ego or gatekeeping. It’s about education. Knowing the difference helps designers, models, and creatives make informed decisions, set real expectations, and move with intention not confusion. So to be clear no one’s ever “invited” to walk or show for NYFW. Participation for NYFW shows are very costly and would range from about $5k-$20k to participate (it’s not free), and models aren’t invited - they’re selected through their agencies!! NYFW only goes through AGENCIES so educating yourselves is very important in this field!! @etsipofficial"

The sad fact is that 90% of the people reading this who think they walked in NYFW did not. They just walked during it. Let's all do better all around! by @modalprods
