DANG you guys 2025 is already so crazy I didnโ€™t do my annual posting on the Pantone Color of the Year! Normally I mainly talk about it here; but this year I posted everywhere but here! Sooo I ๐ŸคŽ MOCHA MOUSSE, the sophisticated & lush Pantone @pantone COTY Capturing a Global Mood of Connection, Comfort & Harmony. The Pantone Color Institute selected 171230 #MochaMousse, a warming brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort. Itโ€™s like Comfort Food for the Body! Mmmm ๐ŸคŽโ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿซ and my natural dark caramel skin is the icing on the mocha mousse cake. This stunning mocha fitted cabaret gown, and the gorgeous sequin crop top, are both happily chilling in my closet โ€ข Selects taken at Doug Hansgate AMP NY Studios by Julia Rabkin Creative โ€ข bts by Joanne Thuman โ€ข Hair & MU by me https://www.pantone.com/color-of-the-year/2025 @modalprods

It's emotionally exhaaausting. So why don't you pay us for providing a free professional service?!? Advocacy is exhausting and sometimes I just wanna be a model, just let my work speak for itself. Then I get punished for appearing high functioning. Sigh... Yay. @disabilityhorizons @criplifetm @multiple_sclerosis_foundation @diversability @thechargies @joannanobanana @drjenwolkin

Here's a sample of my clients, the incredible things they achieved, and my advocacy. MODAL is a artist management and development company, working with local talent to get signed in major markets. Many of our models and musicians have a disability, face racial discrimination in the industry; I have hand-picked motivated models, singers, and actors who need to package themselves for the business world. I'm now working with national and international organizations @westhavenmgmt @claudiamodelmgt as I have been promoted to managing director and head agent of a few agencies, all of which will be run through MODA - the company (not an agency) is about demanding excellence and fair treatment for those with true artistic potential. ๐Ÿ‘  ๐Ÿ’„ โ™ฟ๏ธ ๐ŸŽค ๐Ÿ“ธ ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ‘— You are beautiful, no matter what they say!

While we were overseas we didn't get a chance to wish a proper Lordy Lordy Look Who's 40 Happy Birthday ๐Ÿฅณ to our Plus Model, melanated queen, Scoliosis activist, yoga Yogi badass, actress, spoken-word artist, mother, entrepreneur... and friend Shawnell! @shawnell_tillery MODAL is completely retooled, we will always offer aฬ€ la carte & hourly Consultation services but are no longer personally developing/ managing clients. Because we've gone international! Big announcements coming soon as MODAL allies officially with a top worldwide diversity mega agency. But Shawnell is coming along with us for the ride! Her talent is definitely too big for Buffalo, and that is our goal - to get talent developed and signed in major markets. We've watched too many artists wither away because they were trapped or tricked or squashed by their local market. Except for extraordinary opportunities and remarkable talent, we are no longer involved with the Buffalo fashion community. My clients deserve better; and so do I. So let's kick off MODAL's 10th Anniversary year with a very happy 40th to our special gal!!

Thanks for this memory pop-up from my former PR agent Emma! After 9 years I have the same question. It's gotten slightly better but not much ๐Ÿ”Š I have a good friend in London, a very famous designer, who swore me to secrecy (being Sicilian it's going to my grave) let's put it this way, you know his name. He told me the *real* reason* most stores stop at a size 10 is because is no size 2 wants to walk down the street and see a size 16 wearing the exact same outfit ๐Ÿ˜ฑ So they'd rather tailor to the thin rich 33%. I'm so glad he was honest with me, it makes a lot of sense, even though it doesn't.

#MODALtip After a shoot if you really dig your garments, politely ask if there's a Model's discount! Usually the designer is happy to sell it right there, but for various reasons the answer may be no. It never hurts to respectfully ask. I always inquire esp. if the piece was made for me; it's a great way to stock my wardrobe, and it's wonderful to keep the relationship with the designer going. Which leads to more contracts in the future... which leads to more model discounts! I'm so glad I bought this retro stunner from 710 Fashions by Denise Washington after my first Queen Size Magazine Cover shoot ~ is it not perfect for my jazz chanteuse career?!? ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

๐Ÿ”” BIG NEWS coming from the MODAL family soon ~ we're no longer developing individual models but partnering with major organizations on an international stage. But of course I'm continuing with my 2 current Buffalo Beauties, and Miss Shawnell here is about to blast off! ๐Ÿš€ We had an awesome marathon 2-hour strategizing session yesterday; we've already positioned her to break onto the New York scene, and to firm up her agency signing! For Throwback #tbthursday I just gotta post images from her very first professional portfolio shoot (I always try to be on set with my clients). Doug Hansgate at AMP is one of our favorite photographers because he's just as passionate about teaching & training the model *during* the shoot as I am. ๐Ÿ’Ÿ Shawnie has come a really long way baby, but I say this is a banger for a first shoot! What about you guys?!? all photography by @dhansgate; styling by me; shirt gifted by @happysize_fashion
