The Aurora display at Nubble Light tonight was spectacular. Seeing and shooting Northern Lights was a bucket list item for me, so when I heard that the KP index was 9, and cloud cover in York was next to nothing, I had to go! I cannot believe how much more color and detail are captured by the camera than the naked eye. This image was shot on a Nikon DSLR at 18mm, f5.6, for 6 seconds with ISO at 1600. I felt like anything longer blew out the lighthouse, and anything shorter diminished the stars. This image was slightly dehazed, contrast added, and saturation of the red glow of the lighthouse was toned down. I removed the distracting power lines, and added a slight contrast to the foreground where the photographer was standing in front of me. Nothing else was changed.

Day 4 Icy… the Swallow Boathouse is on private property and under heavy surveillance. After reaching out to the realty company, and consulting on timing, I was finally able to see this architectural wonder on Lake Winnepesaukee. Please don’t ask me how I got permission; I have been sworn to secrecy. Today the scene was perfect with the coating of wet heavy snow that blanketed the Lakes Region yesterday. I think this might be one of my favorite photos I have taken.

Tonight’s Rebel 💢POPS💢 theme is “in the spotlight.” What a perfect way to showcase my photography adventure from Friday night! Having secured permission from the property owner, a group of photographers and I trekked up the hillside and set up for three hours of shooting underneath a cloudless sky at these ruins in the Berkshires. The almost full moon created the “spotlight” on the ruins. During the process I had an equipment malfunction, but I pressed on, and took the 304 final images (and a lot of prayers) to my editing suite. 6 hours later, after very detailed editing, including removing about 40 airplanes, voila! I explained to a co-worker that this is what it would look like if you could see the world turn for 3 hours at night. She was mesmerized. Arguably this may not be the most technically perfect shot, but I had fun, and that is all that matters.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that…” ~~Martin Luther King, Jr

I took an early hike, to see about shooting some morning foliage views.
Do you ever wonder about the future, and where your dreams may lead?
I was wondering today, when I turned the corner and saw this scene. A tear slipped down my cheek.
I am on the right path.

This is a gratitude post for another beautiful family who entrusted me with their golden hour portraits. No identifying info is being disclosed in the interest of privacy.
I have a few very select dates left to capture portraits while the foliage is magical.
Now it is onward to a wedding, an engagement shoot, and a luxe boudoir session. I am truly blessed.

Day 13 Leading Lines…. Whether it is the tree limbs, fences, or country roadways, your eye will follow…. To an old barn, the heart of a tree, a favorite house scape, or the gorgeous foliage behind where a tin roof rusted. I have been out taking a few pictures, and am not done yet. Enjoy.

Day 11 Scapes #rebel_scapes @rebel_scapes A little late in the day but here is a very common view if you travel in Vermont. Layers of green topped with “Fruity Pebbles.”

October dirt roads, changing leaves, and cemeteries. Today’s challenge prompt is “scenic road,” and every road is beautiful this year. I stopped to get this shot because the tree is perfect in my eyes. So is the quiet little road. @raw_challenge_
