Mid-afternoon on Sunday saw @sligobaroqueorchestra deliver a unique insight into Johann Gottlieb Janitsch’s “Freitagsakademie”. These weekly meetings in Berlin were a melting pot of music performed at Janitsch’s home, attended by both professional and amateur musicians.

Their programme included music by Janitsch himself, Graun, C.P.E.Bach and Quantz in a delightful afternoon of music in the @modelsligo Niland Gallery.

After a wonderful solo recital on Saturday night, cellist @robinmichael76 was straight back to work on Sunday morning, giving a fascinating lecture-recital to a very attentive audience in the education room at the @modelsligo

This behind the scenes event covered everything from baroque bows to musical architecture, even including some singing from the audience!

On Saturday lunchtime at @modelsligo Niland Gallery our artistic director @sharon.carty took a group of intrepid and curious singers through their paces in an open choral rehearsal.

Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses of all ages warmed up together and sang through the opening movement of the Vivaldi Gloria, one of the highlights of the 2026 festival! And they sounded “Gloria-ous” 🎶

Thank you to everyone who came along!

Yesterday Branar was in Sligo for the installation of our Jack B Yeats Toy Theatre Project! 🎭

This project has been in development for months in Branar HQ by a team of Marc Mac Lochlainn, Maeve Clancy, Tony Read and Adrian Ferry. The project features 5 of Jack B Yeats' plays for young audiences and gives children the opportunity to breathe new life into these scripts through sound, visuals, puppets and their imaginations.

Commissioned by the Model Sligo, Home of the Niland Collection, this is an installation based on the Toy Theatre world of Jack B Yeats. taken in The Model Sligo by @modelsligo
