Me.
Just wanted to give you a snippet of my life. Oftentimes, we never get to see who’s behind the photos of things we like .. so hello.
.
I’m a mom. I’m a pediatric cardiac nurse. I started this mid century design journey 6 years ago, transforming our 1950s single level 1300 sq ft ranch home to become our own. The pandemic hit us hard (my husband is a healthcare worker as well) and I learned to divert my frustrations and exhaustions into brining back vintage pieces… and since then… I have never stopped my love for design in vintage pieces.
.
It’s nice to meet all of you that has been with me through this journey… keep watching!

Staying at home is my ultimate flex.
.
Hear me out.
I’ve been through it all.
•Late night parties.
Home at 5am, school at 8am, work at 6pm still with my stamp on my wrists, last night’s vodka breath and blisters on my heels from dancing all night.
•Shitty internet and cellphone plans.
No social media to document all the shenanigans.
•Pagers. (Yes I just outted myself.. I’m no young duckling)

And I have more stuff where that came from…
.
Sooo… I’m ok to be somewhat boring these days and rather stay home.. because in all honesty… I’m not THAT boring.. I’m retired 😎 by @modern.thrifter

Winging it is easy and sometimes can surprisingly be amazing, but curating is where the excitement of planning and carefully choosing what you love to create your space that embodies your vision is a feeling that is hard to explain. by @modern.thrifter

Our kitchen is the barely seen common room in our home. It mainly because it’s rarely clean or empty…not because I’m a lazy ass and don’t clean, but it’s because almost always, the counter has one or two of our children hanging out, watching YouTube videos on our Echo show while doing homework, someone is making themselves some ramen on the stove, one of us air frying snacks, one of us making espresso or brewed coffee, and someone doing their laundry… the list can go on forever…
.
My point is, our kitchen is the most loved, used, utilized and always has some stuff lying around… the IG post kind of photos is quite difficult to achieve most days… but honestly, to photograph our kitchen space without anyone in it makes me a little sad… but then again… the day is young… this kitchen will be as busy as the LA 405 freeway in a few hours.. when the kids are back from school.
.
Happy Monday!
.
BTW… our kitchen renovation was the best money well spent splurge ever! Do it! by @modern.thrifter

A space for drinks…
Having a smaller space doesn’t mean skimping on the important things… like having a mini bar without it being loud and obvious. Cheers. by @modern.thrifter

The purpose of no overhead lighting has always been to bring a feeling of calm.

You shouldn’t feel guilty.
