The past year of living on my own in an ex hospital ward!
The floor is original and helps set a style, mid century modern I’m calling it, but I also love minimalism, so there’s some of that in there too! 🛋️🏡🧡

Day 1.
Shinjuku, Japan.
.
Haven’t walked soo much in my life but it’s worth it.
.
From our trek towards Kabukicho, we hit the must see places in Shinjuku:

- Shinjuku Cross Space (a busy cross walk in Kabukichō)
- Godzilla Head (located at the hotel Gracery)
- 3D Cat billboard (fun display of advertising in front of Shinjuku Station)
- Hanazono Shrine (beautiful shrine nestled in Shinjuku, is the most important shrine in Japan)
- Golden-Gai (former red light district after World War II, this Yokocho is now a place for many small bars)
- Don Quijote (largest chain of everything imaginable for tourists gift items)
- had some Dango (Japanese dumplings)
- having a glimpse of the trains coming from Shinjuku station, the busiest train station in Tokyo.
.
.
TIPS:
- wear comfortable shoes
- bring cash (some places accept US cards but the conversion rate can be different)
- plan ahead (if you have OCD like me… I like to know where I need to go)
- the train station is systematic and organized but you have to pay attention.
- stay on the left side of the escalator to make room for people on the right that want to walk up instead
- pocket WiFi
- 7-11 (we love this place for quick food to stock in our hotel)
.
.
More tips to come

DAY 4
Akihabara.
.
The city surrounded by lights, games, gashapons and all anime and manga.
.
The kids had a blast… gambling away the money they have saved in hopes of winning big in the claw machines and blind items at the gashapons.
.
We spent the day here… ended up in a tall building of 10 floors filled with anime figures, pokemon cards and everything collectibles.

Don’t ever sleep on any opportunities coming your way.
.
Everything is not promised.. but you can try to prove it wrong.
.
Still waiting for my big break.. doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen.

Some homes have personality...
Others have a Moai quietly watching over a stack of unread magazines like a minimalist bodyguard.

@modern.thrifter stages the kind of corner that makes you want to sit, stay, and possibly rethink your lighting choices. The Moai Pen Pot is doing less—and somehow saying more.

Consider it desk décor for people who don’t do “normal stationery.”

This is your sign to decorate like it’s summer every day — bold, bright, and a little unhinged (in the best way). 😎
