We’re proud to welcome Hemadri Modi as a Founding Member of the Creatives for Virginia Foundation Advisory Council, representing Portsmouth, Virginia.

An Air Force veteran, Modi is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, entrepreneur, creative producer and culture connector whose work bridges art, culture, community and strategy. She also serves as Operations Manager, Board Officer and Treasurer of the @contemporaryartsnetwork .

Her experience connecting people, ideas and place brings a valuable perspective to our work strengthening Virginia’s creative community.

Are women allowed to come is a frequently asked question and the answer is……

HELL YES—women are absolutely allowed to come. In fact, women are always welcome unless a flyer explicitly says “men only.” A lot of our support comes from women, and we are not naive to that.

So first—thank you. We’re genuinely grateful for our sisters and for the women who truly see us.

Second —we’d love to invite you to join us at the @virginiamoca on May 14th at 6PM. We’ll be hosting a special conversation around the work of @ninachanel and what it really looks like to pursue happiness.

…feed your kids by 7…they have to live in this world too..
no- try not to think about the kids under rubble or hungry, it’s too political…and Pastor just said something about community… you gotta remember that, what was it?
between deep breaths, feed yourself too…

Join us November 29 from 6–9 PM at The CAN Gallery in City Center @citycenteratoysterpoint for The CAN Opener — the opening reception of TENFOLD, an exhibition and fundraiser honoring a decade of artist-driven impact that is the CAN.
The multimedia exhibition includes works from the CAN Collection, past and current CAN resident, workshop, and studio artists, as well as submissions from an open call.
The evening will include live music by Fortresses @fortresseslive , open studios, and a silent auction of select works.
Tickets are $15, and all proceeds directly support CAN programming and future artist residencies.
