So pleased to be a part of @cbssundaymorning today! Jen Jen would like to thank the producer Aria, correspondent Mo Rocca (our other “Moe”!), her friend @jonbova for his gift of gab, our dear customer Ann featured in the video, our many friends, customers, and talented photographers for their photos in this video. What started as a simple act is truly what the store is about- bringing the community together. The love on this street, this neighborhood, is shared here with all of you! The best way to start our thanksgiving week 🥰🦃❤️ taken in Moe the Butcher - Albanese Meats and Poultry by @moethebutcher

Today marks the first day of the @sangennaronyc’s 100th anniversary! In this short film by Laura Terruso, Moe describes the many other feasts in the neighborhood.
Even though we are a few blocks over on Elizabeth Street (and there are no feasts on our block anymore), we still like to get into the spirit and will be selling a fun treat to our customers this Saturday. 103 years. One family. One block in Little Italy.

Albanese Meats & Poultry is one of the last butcher shops of its kind in NYC, and Jennifer Prezioso is the fourth-generation butcher keeping it alive.

Her great-grandfather opened this shop when he immigrated from Sicily. Her grandfather Moe - “Moe the Butcher” to everyone in the neighborhood - ran it until he was 95. Jennifer never planned on becoming a butcher. She was an actress when she first started helping Moe, and over time she fell in love with the craft.

This one meant a lot to me. Jennifer embodies everything this series is about - the businesses that are woven into this city’s history, culture, and identity. Interviewing her was a real honor!!

If you’re ever in Little Italy, stop in. Try the gotcha rib-eye, the meatballs, the Italian sausages. Grab some pasta, pick up some merch (hats coming soon!).

And check out @eater_ny piece “The Last Butcher Shop in Little Italy Turns 100” if you want to go deeper on their story.

Albanese Meats & Poultry 🥩 🔪 @moethebutcher

I was lucky enough to meet Jennifer Prezioso, the 4th generation of the family business @moethebutcher , a hidden gem in NY.

Grateful to have shared an amazing conversation with you in this magic place; I’ve been wanting to come for so long and I finally made it happen.
I would say that one of the most incredible things in life it’s to encounter and share with people with such a passion, so mindful with her legacy; a person who values heritage & roots; lovely to meet you and now to be in touched ; I’ll be seeing you in Barcelona perhaps soon again in New York.

People while in NY go and visit Jennifer ; she will share her great energy, her story.

I also got to get an amazing Salami made in NY, from @lasalumina.
Thank you Jennifer, you’ve made my day.

Step inside our New York City dinner with Jennifer Prezioso at @moethebutcher 🥩

On Elizabeth Street in Lower Manhattan, time feels suspended inside Albanese Meats & Poultry. The century-old butcher shop, now in its fourth generation, has become as much a neighborhood landmark as a place to buy your weekly meat.

This past summer, the family business celebrated its 102nd anniversary – a milestone now carried forward by Jennifer, the sole owner and butcher, who tends to both the counter and the legacy with equal devotion.

Albanese Meats & Poultry has always been a place where people come together, share stories, and connect over food. For Oddbird, that spirit made it a natural setting for our New York dinner.

Gathering inside Jennifer’s shop, surrounded by a century of history, we reminded our guests that true hospitality time has never been about alcohol, but about people, connection, great flavor, and the memories created around the table. taken in New York, New York by @moethebutcher

Happy August Customers! Here is a longer format video of some new photos I received today at the store and wanted to share with you all. We’ve dated them to about January/February of 1988. A nice present to turn my day around and remember Great Grandma’s birthday later this week 🎁
Keep in mind the store will be closed for holiday 8/18-23 and will reopen 8/25 🥩❤️ taken in Moe the Butcher - Albanese Meats and Poultry by @moethebutcher

Celebrating our 102nd Birthday!!!! 🎈🎈🎈We don’t have an actual date of the store opening but we always begin our celebrating on July 15th, the marriage of my great grandparents Vincenzo and Mariannina (and known to many as Mary). Photo 2 my great grandma is about 19 years old, and after their marriage they opened on Elizabeth Street, where she and her family lived. Vincenzo, 26, was a butcher in Sicily prior to moving to America so it only made sense to have a butcher shop. Looking at this photo everyday, I am reminded how far we have come, while staying on this block in our little shop. ✨ taken in Moe the Butcher - Albanese Meats and Poultry by @moethebutcher
