Le ricerche di Cristina Grazioli si concentrano sui rapporti tra teatro e arti visive, la storia e le poetiche della marionetta, l’illuminazione teatrale e l’estetica della luce. Soggetto Perduto parte da schemi coreografici archetipali per arrivare gradualmente a un dialogo tra linguaggi, forme e immagini: un teatro dell'invisibile che esplora le potenzialità espressive di un luogo e le correnti di energia che lo attraversano.

Riccio uniàgo, 2026
Cartapesta, legno, bambo, fondi di caffe, garza, filo di ferro, polistirolo, vinavil, colla di farina, tessuto, acrilico, gesso, piuma. 40 x 30 x 15cm

Ogni volta che esco di casa, andando per la strada, trovo dei cadaveri di ricci schiacciati da macchine. Una macchia di carne bruciata sull’asfalto incandescente, la scena ormai diventata un paesaggio quotidiano.
I ricci quando percepiscono i rumori della macchina, invece di scappare via velocemente, si fermano e prendono una posizione di difesa ma nel tempo stesso di attacco, puntando in su tutti gli aghi. Il loro sistema purtroppo non ha nessun effetto sulla superficie di pneumatici.

La scultura che ho costruito nasce dalla mia estimazione di un possibile sviluppo corporeo del sistema difensivo e offensivo dei ricci, come conseguenza delle esperienze accumulate nell'incontro con gli pneumatici delle automobili. Nella mia immaginazione, prima che gli esseri umani riescano a prevenire o risolvere questa tragica relazione, i ricci iniziano a sviluppare un unico ago, più robusto. Da questa immagine si aprono diversi scenari: percorro l'asfalto seduta sul sedile del passeggero, con la radio accesa, immaginando come cambierebbe questa relazione. Nel costruire questo lavoro indago la vulnerabilità di un piccolo corpo di fronte a una minaccia smisurata, ma anche il limite della mia mente nell'immaginare una forma di sopravvivenza che non si basi sull'aggressione come istinto animale e, allo stesso tempo, la mia incapacità di andare oltre la proiezione umana.

Automi di legno e cartone, costruiti a partire da modelli tradizionali di giocattoli fai-da-te, con qualche modifica e qualche pezzo aggiunto. Scendevano lungo una piccola rampa. Il più grande aveva due piedi, e mentre scendeva produceva un suono: 𝗸𝗮𝗸𝗸𝘂𝗻 — una parola onomatopeica giapponese.

Nessuno controlla l'automa. Si costruisce un oggetto, lo si lascia andare, e va dove vuole.

Così si chiudeva l'edizione 2025. Quest'anno si ricomincia l'𝟭𝟭 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗲.

Automata and other musical instruments.

Automata built from wood and cardboard, based on traditional do-it-yourself toy designs with a few modifications and added parts. They came down a small ramp. The largest had two feet, and as it descended it made a sound: 𝗸𝗮𝗸𝗸𝘂𝗻, a Japanese onomatopoeia.

No one controls the automaton. You build an object, you let it go, and it goes where it wants.

That's how the 2025 edition closed. This year it begins again on 𝟭𝟭 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿.

🐏 MUDLAMB 🐏

We're excited to share that our newly formed band will be opening for the Xilomonsters exhibition at @dolomiticontemporanee in Casso.

Sheep Free Jazz Worship W/ @enejgala on bass clarinet, @moeyoshidaveggetti
on amplified objects and myself on (prepared) drums.

Casso is a small village in the Dolomites,
home to a former elementary school that closed in 1963, after the tragic wave caused by the Vajont disaster. Decades later it reopened as Nuovo Spazio di Casso, standing quietly in view of Monte Toc.

We're looking forward to listening, sensing, sounding, and responding to this incredible natural landscape and the weight of memory it carries.

KICKSTARTERS - Book launch & finissage

TODAY at 19h at @carinarnica

On the occasion of the conclusion of the exhibition by the artistic duo Rotora, we present the book that was created within the project. Rotora is the name under which artists Enej Gala and Moe Yoshida operate. Their reflection on the experience of the border led to the project Kickstarters – kinetic sculptures of legs that create an uneasy feeling of standing in a border area and kick us either out of the country or back into it. The art project was created within the Border Museum program of the Carinarnica gallery, where we discover different manifestations and experiences of border areas.

In addition to the exhibition, which opened on May 15 and will conclude today, the authors and the editor of the booklet Miha Kosovel set out on a shorter journey to find abandoned border crossings and to reflect on the experience of crossing the border and the charge that even unmonitored border areas still maintain. From this, a booklet with the same title as the exhibition was created, in which thoughts and photographs taken on this journey are collected. The book will be available at the presentation at a reduced price of €5.

Sculptural devices threaten passers-by with kicks into not necessarily welcome beginnings. Their name mischieviously echoes the diluted mission of a well-known public benefit corporation, which has frequently fostered highly controversial and rather tragicomic initiatives. Four, like the directions of the sky, the horsemen of the apocalypse or the two-colored tokens that connect into a winning line, get united under a simple common function. Positioned at a border crossing such as Carinarnica, they embody the historical, systemic, and social tools that have profoundly marked the experience of this specific territory. The border is not so much a question of a line as a question of friction. Yet, theirs was perhaps never a show of power, but rather a silent introspection into some of our most natural and bizzare behaviors.

💥Kickstarters💥Today Rotora is opening at @carinarnica 19h

At the opening, we will discuss our upcoming publication about the guerrilla quest for smaller border crossings, where each sculpture was given short-term employment. We will delve into a world of sculptures captured on photographs, borders lost in time and well-calibrated kicks from the past or perhaps the not-so-distant future.

The exhibition opening will be accompanied by the experimental group Mudlamb.

Rotora (artistic duo Enej Gala + Moe Yoshida) explores conceptual readings of movement through comparative anatomy and puppetry traditions. By integrating sustainable practices, locally sourced materials, object sound explorations, and guerrilla filmmaking, their production ranges from small sculptures to immersive site-responsive installations.

A new series of interactive sculpture "Animali I-III"

Papier machè, paper, wood, wire, stone, feathers, hedgehog quill, twine.

This ongoing series of works are created based on inspiration drawn from the Japanese word dōbutsu (動物), meaning “animal,” as well as from the various historical contexts surrounding the term. The word dōbutsu is composed of two ideograms meaning “movement” and “object.”
