It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share the news that my wonderful husband Dave passed away peacefully last night ( 13th October) at Willowbrook Hospice, surrounded by so much love from his family. ❤️

Dave was my husband, my biggest supporter, and my life partner. On 6th November, we would have celebrated 44 years of marriage — 44 years of love, memories, laughter, and a life shared together.

He was also the best dad to our two daughters, Hannah and Eleanor. He loved them dearly and was so proud of the wonderful women they have become. Dave was also a great big brother to Linda and sister in law Liz, and he held a special place in their hearts.

I feel heartbroken that our time together has come to an end, and I can’t begin to imagine life without him. I feel so incredibly lucky to have had Dave by my side for all these years, and I will carry our love and memories with me always.

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Willowbrook Hospice for the kindness, compassion and wonderful care they gave Dave and our family during this incredibly difficult time. They made sure he was surrounded by love and comfort, and that means more than words can say.

❤️ A personal update ❤️

I’ve struggled to find the words to write this, but I feel I want to share what is happening with those who care about us.

My beloved husband Dave has been living with terminal cancer, and over recent weeks his health has deteriorated significantly. He has now been admitted to Willowbrook Hospice, where he is receiving end-of-life care.

There are no words really to describe what it feels like to watch the person you love become so poorly. Dave has been my husband, my most avid supporter and such a huge part of my life. We have shared so many years, memories, laughter, challenges and ordinary everyday moments that I will treasure forever.

Right now, everything has become about the simplest things — being together, holding his hand, sitting beside him, talking when he feels able, and making sure he knows just how deeply he is loved.

Our daughters and I are spending as much time with him as we can, surrounding him with love and trying to take each day, and sometimes each hour, as it comes.

I cannot say enough about the wonderful care Dave is receiving at Willowbrook. At such an incredibly difficult time, the kindness, compassion and dignity shown to him and to all of us is something I will never forget. ❤️

To all our family and friends who have called, messaged, visited, offered help, checked in or simply kept us in your thoughts — thank you. It means more than I can possibly put into words.

Please forgive me if I don’t reply to messages or calls. I’m not ignoring anyone; I’m just trying to be where I need to be right now — with Dave and my family.

Life has suddenly become about precious moments and making memories that we will carry with us forever.

And perhaps that is what I will take from all of this: never underestimate the value of an ordinary day, an ordinary conversation, watching TV together, a cup of tea together, a laugh, a hug or simply having the person you love beside you.

Those ordinary moments are, in fact, the extraordinary ones.

Our 46th Valentines Day together and I feel blessed that we have a loving family and each other as we navigate Dave’s palative care. Keeping hold of the everyday glimmers that really do sustain us. In the end it’s the little things that you realise are the big things! by @mokeegan

Congratulations to my sister Liz Dean on receiving her OBE from
