Cyanotype Printing with Ranger and Artist Mo Langmuir
Time: 12:30 – 14:00

Join Ranger and artist Mo Langmuir for a hands-on cyanotype printing workshop exploring our relationship with the natural world. Experiment with the technique on paper and fabric using pressed plants, found objects, cut-out text, reference images and your own drawings. You can also collect natural materials from the site to use in your work.
Everyone will leave with their own cyanotype print and a printed fabric bookmark, featuring their own collaged exploration of the relationship between people and nature.

Saying goodbye to the monument to moss in the old shop window at badstraße 32 ~as part of @wuka_naturalia_artificialia.

Thank you @nicola_angermann ‼️thank you moss ‼️

We’ll be re-installing the moss + soil back into the forest, and the tiles will become a public art trail mapping the old grounds.

The Indoor Outdoor Continuum [Part 1/2]

Commission for Imperial College on WellHome, their biggest ever research project in collaboration with the local community. Working with 100 families with children who have asthma, looking at as many different housing types and ethnicities to assess health outcomes for air pollution exposure, both inside and outside the home. This piece was produced with ~100 young ppl in the area, using ink collected from car pollution, upcycled bedsheets naturally dyed by @softandprickly (using Cindy Brewer’s research for map colouring - the same as Ed Hawkins famous ‘Warming Stripes’) & activated charcoal which has been shown to absorb pollution.

The coloured squares show NO2 pollution, all of which exceed world health org levels. Each square represents the pollution in 4km2 of the WellHome study area, each lifts up to show the open source map. The stitched white line is the Westway, a key source of outdoor pollution in this area.

Introducing map artwork by Mo Langmuir - included free in every In Defiance copy.

The work was illustrated by Mo especially for Issue #1. Based on the Gall Peters Projection map which presents countries in their true(ish) proportion to one another, the work highlights historical cases on threats to artist freedom expression worldwide.

From China to the US, Russia to Zimbabwe, the map demonstrates that artists at every corner of the globe are being targeted for their work.
