Grow your own mushrooms 🍄
10:30am till 12pm

Learn to grow mushrooms on coffee grounds and other household waste. Mushrooms are nature’s master recyclers. Without fungi, the planet would be buried under undecomposed organic matter, and the rich, fertile soils that support life would never form.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the fascinating lifecycle of fungi and discover how mushrooms transform everyday waste into nutritious food. We’ll show you how to build a simple growing system using common household materials such as used tea leaves and coffee grounds.

Designed for beginners, the workshop covers:

- The lifecycle of fungi and their vital role in natural ecosystems
- The conditions mushrooms need to thrive at each stage of growth
- Common sources of contamination and how to prevent them
- Simple techniques for growing mushrooms at home using recycled materials”

Cyanotype Workshop
12:30pm - 2pm

Ranger Mo will run a cyanotype-printing workshop where you can experiment with the technique on both paper and fabric, as well as using reference images, cut out text, free-drawing, pressed plants and found objects. You can also collect natural material directly from the site or bring your own things to experiment with. Everyone will leave with their own paper print and printed fabric bookmark, featuring your collaged explorations of the human nature relationship.

Mo is an artist with a background in environmental biology, exploring being human on a shared planet through collaborations with people and places

It starts with a seed. Let’s plant the future together 🌱

On Saturday 30th May, join thousands of people across three locations in Nottingham city centre for a free day of creativity, community and climate action.

🐛

We’re sowing creativity, care, resilience, joy, solutions - a million mini revolutions. Think “oh wow!” moments, composting compassion, spring optimism, a solarpunk playground of human-nature connectedness.

🍓

If a seed is a start, a festival is a whole packet of potential.

Last weekend we came together for the launch of That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore, the final exhibition by Bosla Arts’ artists-in-residence Rand Hamdallah and Shahd Itbakhi. To be honest, we still aren’t over it 🫶

It’s been an honour to get to know and work with Rand & Shahd over this past year and it was amazing to witness their collaboration come to light.

🏔 Atop the mountain she cried,
🌊 At the Green Loch she stood,
🤸 But before all that,
🌲 There was THE WOOD.

🔥 Created by the brilliant @blewyello this is Part 1 of ‘The Bothy Trilogy’, our behind-the-scenes series from A Handful of Dust - a folk-horror short about a woman who enters the forest after hearing distant thunder outside her window.

✨ Inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, the story exists on the assumption that love is the only tool powerful enough to inspire those who are living to enter the realm of the dead, rising up through the ancient structures of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise.

⚡ Shot in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, A Handful of Dust is a story of grief, longing, and the landscapes that holds memory like breath.

🎬 We’re currently offering up to £7,000 through our short film fund to help emerging filmmakers bring their own stories to life. LINK IN BIO. Applications are open now.

☝ Follow for job postings, masterclasses, fund updates, and parts 2 & 3 of this series...

A Handful of Dust — our latest short film.

Shot in March 2024 in the rugged Cairngorms. This folk-horror reimagines Dante’s Divine Comedy through a lens of Scottish mythology and landscape — hell, purgatory, and paradise reborn in the Highlands.

This is what’s possible when filmmakers are given real freedom. And it’s exactly what our £7,000 short film fund is here to support.

Submissions are open now.
