POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
There are a lot of books about leadership that claim to teach people how to lead—this is not one of them.

Meet the Moment: A Human-Centered Approach to Leadership, was written for people who want to keep humans at the center of their work. People who want to be intentional with their words, who think about how their decisions will impact others, and who want to lead without losing themselves in the process.

I wrote this book because leadership is an inside-out process. And I think a lot of leaders are exhausted from trying to follow a quick-fix 5-step checklist that will guarantee success in leadership.

If you’ve been looking for a leadership book that feels more like a conversation than a blueprint, then this one might be for you.

🔗The link to order is in my bio.

❤️ And thank you to everyone who has already purchased the book. The world needs more leaders—like you—who are willing to meet the moment. taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @molly.grisham

Empathy.

You never really know who is walking into a room carrying a story they don’t yet know how to tell.

One of the reasons empathy matters so much in leadership is because people rarely arrive at work as only employees, teammates, or colleagues. They arrive as human beings carrying experiences, challenges, hopes, and worries that often remain unseen.

In this clip from the Meet the Moment: A Human-Centered Approach to Leadership keynote, I talk about why empathy is not about fixing people or having all the answers. It is about remembering that every person we encounter may be carrying a story we cannot see.

I think the best leaders understand that while they may never know every detail of someone’s story, they can choose to lead in a way that makes room for people’s humanity. And often, that changes everything.

If this message resonates with you, I’d love for you to share the reel with someone who may need the reminder.

And if your team, school, athletic department, or organization is exploring what it looks like to lead people in a more human-centered way, I’d love to connect.

Finding balance.

Today I discovered a new walking trail near my house. I knew it was in the works, but I didn’t know it was done. What a great surprise!

It was so life-giving to spend 5 miles thinking, dreaming, and planning.

As the fall weather rolls in, I’m going to enjoy every minute I can get outside and in the sun!

Thank you!

I’ve been working with the ice hockey team at St. Olaf for many, many years. And they always bring their best!

Often in teambuilding sessions, we talk about what we just learned about ourselves and how we can take action to improve. This team did that! From one activity to the next, they were able to acknowledge where they could be better and they did it.

If that’s going to be their approach this season, they will be a difficult team to compete with!

Thanks for having me. See you next year? 🤷🏻‍♀️ taken in St. Olaf College by @molly.grisham

It happened again!!

Once again, a group showed up to an event of mine, wearing matching T-shirts. They had a quote printed on the shirt of something I had said to them last year. This is becoming a regular thing—it has happened with multiple groups.

I love that people are willing to be present and take to heart what I share with them. These moments mean a lot. ❤️

And yes, I still believe it is true: “It is hard to be human.”

In light of this, we need to keep showing up for each other. ❤️ by @molly.grisham

Municipal Clerks of Illinois.

It’s official, this was the 10th year in a row that I facilitated at this event!

I always enjoy being at this event. The attendees are curious, open, and excited to learn and grow together. And while each year new people attend the event, it always feels like I’m coming home.

A big thanks to each of you for such a wonderful experience. I hope to see you next year! ❤️ taken in Bloomington, Illinois by @molly.grisham

Last call for K–12 Site Leaders!

We launch next week, and I would love to have you join us!

If you’re a principal, assistant principal, athletic director, counselor, or another K–12 site leader, I want you to think about this question:
Who supports you while you’re supporting everyone else?

I know how much you carry. I know how many decisions you make, how many problems you solve, and how often you’re expected to have the answers.

But I also know that leadership was never meant to be done alone.

That’s why I created this six-week cohort. It’s not another training or another thing to add to your plate. It’s an opportunity to connect with other leaders who understand your work, navigate real challenges together, gain perspective, and build a community of support.

We begin October 13, so the window to join us is closing quickly.

If you’ve been thinking about applying, now is the time. And if you know a school leader who could use this kind of community, please share this with them.

My email list is where I share Lightbulb Moments—the full stories, reflections, and leadership lessons that often begin with something ordinary and leave me thinking about something much bigger.

It’s also where my community hears from me first. You’ll know when I’m launching a new cohort, opening registration for a retreat, creating a new experience, or offering an opportunity to work together, my email list is often the first to know!

And I promise, I’m not interested in filling your inbox just to fill your inbox. I want what I send you to be worth opening and to not feel spammy.

New post!

Today I shared a new post with my email list about my time on the Camino and some of the life and leadership lessons I brought home with me.

One of my biggest noticing was about the ways we show up and care for one another.

On the Camino, care was often simple and tangible. Walking beside someone. Waiting for them. Sharing what you had. Making room at the table. Paying attention.

I came home thinking a lot about what it looks like to live that way in my everyday life.

How do I become someone who is deeply present for people—not just in what I say, but in tangible ways they can actually feel?

I’m excited to keep exploring that question.

🔗I hope you find something meaningful in this week’s post. And if you’d like essays like this delivered to your inbox, you can subscribe to Lightbulb Moments at the link in my bio. taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @molly.grisham
