📣📣Your 16 year old body, was literally a child’s body.

In your early 20s it’s so easy to look at yourself 5 years ago and wonder what happened. It’s puberty babe. That’s what happened. You might have a bit of cellulite. Your tummy might be a different shape. But that’s ok!! You’ve grown, your hormones and your bodies cycle has changed so much since you were at school. The second puberty post adolescence is very rarely spoken about but can affect you in your 20s all the way up to your 40s, and is down to changes in your metabolism, skin and hair and even mental shifts.

Cut yourself some slack. PLEASE. I honestly struggled with this until I learnt about the second puberty and honestly would recommend a google for anybody who hasn’t heard of it.

@lbc today, following the announcement that teenage 🍇ist will avoid jail time after Judge Lawrie’s ruling. On another case where a boy stabbed a girl for rejecting him, he said prison was no place for such a ‘bright lad.’

What message does this send our young girls? AND our young boys? That you have the right, and you can get away with it. I’m fed up with survivors doing longer sentences than their abusers. Justice needs to be an option for survivors, not a dream. #lbc #notallmenbutallwomen #ukpolitics by @mollyhanning

🪧Almost two thirds (62%) of students and graduates have experienced sexual violence at UK universities (Revolut & The Student Room, 2018.) We’re calling on the Prime Minister to mandate consent education at Uni. Not “inform us,” actually teach us about enthusiastic consent and healthy relationships.

🎓Currently there is no legal requirement for Universities in the UK to provide this training, and alot of them dont. OFS regulation (condition E6) are too vague, too passive and too little too late.

It’s time for institutions to meet our young people where we need them to. Times have changed, and so have campuses all over the UK. Higher education students have been left out of all VAWG policy, when the data proves they need it just as much as secondary education age. Together, with your help, we can change the law and lives of future generations of students.

It was never just one university.

A few months ago, as part of a university project, I submitted FOIs to 20 UK universities (not named for legal reasons) and asked them how many reports of sexual misconduct they had had versus suspensions or expulsions (as a result of these reports).

The Cornell 7 case has reminded me how prevalent sexual misconduct is at universities. Places of learning should be where women and girls and EVERYONE feels safe.

What needs to happen for these reporting systems to change?

(Note: university reporting processes are DIFFERENT to police investigations and often group sexual misconduct reports under one umbrella term) by @mollyhanning

Big moment. Big win. Still more to do.

This week our founder Molly stood at the gates of Downing Street alongside incredible VAWG campaigners to hand in a petition demanding an end to Image Based Sexual Abuse, and mark the long-awaited criminalisation of deepfakes.

This matters. But let’s be clear: criminalising deepfakes is only the first step.
If platforms continue to drag their feet, survivors are left exposed. That’s why we’re calling on big tech to implement a 48-hour takedown policy. No delays. No excuses.

Huge congratulations and gratitude to @glamouruk @jodiecampaigns @notyourpxrn @evawuk for this groundbreaking petition — and to every survivor and campaigner pushing this change forward. We’re watching closely, and we won’t stop here.

Survivors deserve protection now, not later.
Accountability can’t be optional.

Yesterday, the government released their long-awaited Violence Against Women and Girls strategy. Not only has this strategy been delayed, but the attendance to hear it read by MPs was, to put it nicely, disappointing.

Alongside @patsyestevenson and @sharongaffka, I spoke to @lbc ‘s Shelagh Fogarty about the new action plan. What listeners didn’t know was that not only was it my first time live on air, but also the 4 year anniversary of my own rape back in December 2021.

This feels like a really full- circle moment. Since 2022 I’ve campaigned tirelessly to advocate for survivors like myself, and for that reason I welcome so much of the strategy. However, we still have such a long way to go.

We can’t ignore how this issue still isn’t prioritised enough, and how clouded public perceptions of the issues are. Education and prevention really are so vital, but in execution of this strategy we can’t use tickbox frameworks to deliver on such multifaceted issues. Young people NEED to be at the centre of this. Teachers can’t be left with the responsibility of solving these issues themselves. We need a society-wide approach.

Finally, I just want to reflect on how proud of who I’ve become in these last 4 years. At 18 I could never have known that this day would become so much more than the worst day of my life, but maybe the beginning of change, if we allow it. To also be on a panel with two people who I admire and look up to so much was also such a big moment. 4 years ago I couldn’t bare anything crime related on the Tv, let alone imagine talking live about what had happened to me. I hope that anyone listening whose experiences related to mine can see the hope that time and healing has shown me. You are stronger than you know.

Today I attended the gates of Downing Street alongside other incredible VAWG activists and survivors. We marked the long awaited criminalisation of deep fakes.

Whilst banning these technologies are key to tackling image based sexual abuse, this law doesn’t go far enough; we demand that platforms like X adopt a 48 hour takedown policy as too often big tech make little movement on individual distribution cases.

Thankyou so much and congratulations to @glamouruk @jodiecampaigns @notyourpxrn @evawuk on this groundbreaking petition, and all the change which we hope to see following this campaign.
