Been learning this one “Amore mio non piangere”, which I first thought was a cute song which title means “Don’t Cry for me, My love”. But after more research I learned this is a protest song likely from the 1930s, that women being forced to work in the rice fields would sing when Mussolini was attempting to outlaw wheat and pasta as a form of cultural erasure. His fascist governing body instead tried to instate growing rice, forcing famrers to use their land to grow rice to increase government power and economic growth.

“Se sono consumata
È stata la risaia
Che mi ha rovinata”
which translates to
“if Im worn out, it was the rice field that ruined me”

9/19- Playing a set at @salemcapitalpride! Pride is from 11am-6pm, stay tuned for my set time. At the Riverfront Park in Salem, OR
9/26- Opening DJ set at the legendary @dykenighteugene
10/11- Singer songwriter showcase at @thehybridgallery organized by @elisha.phil.music

I’ve been thinking… it’s time for a name change🦋 Presenting my new artist name “MOLTA”.

I’ve been performing under two different names for a while now, Cloud Out Loud for my original music and DJ Cumulus for my dj-ing (which I never expected to take off as it has!). I think having all my music related work under one name will be more easeful and less confusing moving forward.

Molta is an italian word that isn’t really a complete meaning on its own, but means “very” or “a lot of”. It came to me in a dream of sorts recently.

Cloud Out Loud has served me well over the last decade. And I’m still the same Cloud for my day to day IRL name!
