Sunday at the Hartford Public Library, celebrating Queen Marie of Romania — Regina Maria — through books, art, cuisine, and music. 👑🇷🇴 Save December 1st for the next Romanian National Day celebration 🎊

It was a beautiful afternoon of history, books, music, images, cuisine, diplomacy, and community — a little piece of Romania in the heart of Hartford.

With gratitude to Her Excellency Simona Florea, Consul General of Romania in New York; Dana Bucin, Honorary Consul of Romania to Connecticut; Hartford Public Library leadership; and Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam. Beautiful music by Mirela Panaitisor and Iuliana Roaota, and cultural contributions from Nora Vasilescu, Cristian Gogu, Ioana Barac, and Ileana Dumitriu.

And the table was just as special: food by A Villa Louisa, a superb cake from Alina’s Cakes and Cookies, Romanian-Hungarian treats from Tibor and Laura Moldovan, and the printed panels by Victor Dorobantu.

Some stories don’t fade. They just wait for the next generation to hear them. ✨

@themochidonutcafe and @yelpconnecticut have a very sweet event right now!! Happy to sample the Oreo mochi donut and a passion fruit tea with kiwi popping bubbles !! Trick or treat!

No tricks, just treats 🎃👻 @thesugarfactory went full Halloween — the decor alone is worth the trip. Sipping the Vampire's Kiss and a smoking goblet, then straight into the Graveyard Sampler, Swamp Monster Loaded Fries, Black Widow Pops, My Bloody Sliders and saving room for the Skull Island Sundae, because obviously. And right next door, you can pick up new protein sliders too. If your sweet tooth has a dark side, this is your stop. 📍 Sugar Factory

If you’re looking for a good sign, you found one @signofthewhale 🌊
This place has everything: yummy food, delicious drinks and great atmosphere! We heard so many great things and we were very eager when we got invited to try the new Fall menu! We were not disappointed! The vibes were good and that Slow Drip Apple Cider Martini was the perfect starter. I love a good twist on classics and the Caesar salad had it. I’m not a big fan of spicy but the Spicy Rig had the right amount of 🔥 mixed with fresh Burrata so now is my favorite pasta dish. I will never say no to garlic bread and good seafood. @signofthewhale managed to have it on the menu and we were very pleased with the seared tuna and seared salmon. Great additions to the menu! We like to try new things and when we saw those Churro French Crullers on the menu we knew we had to try them:The perfect amount of sweetness, felt like a warm hug on a chilly October night.
This is our choice for the perfect Date Night in CT and can’t wait to return! Don’t forget to check out their weekly specials and as always don’t forget to follow for more!

I was born in Romania and it’s always better to hear it from a local right?!! There’s more to Romania than Dracula of course but what’s real and what’s fiction? Did this castle had a Queen 👑? Read the answers in the slides and comment if you want to know more!
