LETTERS TO BURN A mailbox project by Monday Press Is there something you need to hear? Something you need to say? Dear Reader, We hope this finds you well. You must have questions… allow us to try and answer… Letters to Burn is a project inspired by connection, and born from a place of grieving community and expression. Please find these mailboxes as a home for your desire to release yourself and find collective comfort in doing so. JOIN US: THIS MESS FEELS REALLY GOOD Wednesday October 29th Book Launch Bon Voyage Messy Confessions Studio Send Off Join us for the final Monday Press studio party and the launch of @stinkerbbella ‘s book: This Mess Feels Really Good - available for $20 288 James Street North 7pm Monday Press Forever Hi, my name is Bella and I have been working on this collection of writing for 3 years. The first piece of this book dates back to December of 2022 and the last in August of 2025. This is a body of work dedicated to recollections observing solitude, abundance, love, and the life I have lead in the arts scene as a young woman. This book of poetry is highly vulnerable and ridiculous. Being the studio manager for Monday Press has been nothing short of phenomenal. As I have mourned the loss of a space that has changed my life among many others forever, I also embrace the importance of being on the ground to share other places in the city. Magic happens when we are together regardless of where we are. If you have come to any of our events or have met me, you may know that I hate the spotlight, and have been working ferociously to get this book done for a long time. Well, the book is done guys, and it’s time to celebrate. Not for me, but for what we have accomplished together. This is a book of my poetry. This Mess Feels Really Good, and I am comfortable here. Shower Thoughts Volume THIRTEEN! 288 James St N Tuesday October 14th 7pm SHARP - 10pm $5 PWYC // NOTAFLOF This time, you’re the featured reader. 💌 Shower Thoughts is a spoken word event that showcases different writing styles, topics and performers, all while offering you inspiration and space for your own writing! This is a very special edition of this series- the finale hosted in our beloved studio space. To honor all the incredible Shower Thoughts that came before- this one goes out to YOU! We are opening the floor all evening, we’re flipping the mic around. The theme? Community. Gratitude. Showing up. We want to hear your poetry and stories — of when people had your back, what love looked like manifested, and what it means to be held by others. Express some admiration- tell us about a beautiful memory. Expect a cozy, collaborative workshop, a community writing prompt, and of course — an open mic for anyone who wants to share.
Come write, listen, laugh, cry (maybe), and celebrate the mess and magic of being in it together. Hosted by Monday’s @evantalfano and @stinkerbbella Poster by the talented @blankchasm . For our final month at 288 James St. N, Monday Press presents MONDAY BEST 💛 **some dates have been subject to change** We have a very special month of October ahead of us to give our beloved studio of 2 years a proper send off! Each week we will be bringing in some dear friends from the community and opening our studio doors for 5 weeks of programming. Without further ado, mark your calendars! Thursday October 2nd: POETS 🎤 Featuring our very own Trina Hetherington @treelovertrina and Aronno Kazi @blankchasm to open the show Followed by a very special Hamilton gem Paul Allard @comparablesuffering and all the way from Detroit to headline, Edie Roberts @squabtastic Monday October 6th : OFF_BEAT 🎶📚 We are back at HPL central in the main space for rhymths, melodies, snaps, and claps. Off_Beat pairs local poets and musicians for spoken word performances with live instrumentation. Tuesday October 14th : SHOWER THOUGHTS V13 🛁 We can’t believe this will be our last shower in the studio… Our beloved poetry trifecta including a featured reading, workshop, and open mic will take the stage. This month we’re featuring … YOU! We want to see you all up on that mic. Stay tuned for more! Thursday October 16th: BANDS 🎸 We will be cramming our space for some very special live music with some local legends and good pals. Saturday October 18th: TREMA 💃 Need we say more? Our dearest community, It is with both a heavy and joyful heart that we announce that after 2 beautiful years we have made the tough decision to close the Monday Press Studio. Each and every one of you who walked through our yellow door, read a poem, danced, laughed, and cried, made this space what it was to each of us here at Monday … magical. Thank you for all of the memories and support. This is not the end of poetry and art for us, just the end of the studio. We will be doing a proper send off, so stay tuned for one final hurrah.
