Week one round up from the Mongol Rally 2026. And what a splendid week of adventursome nonsense it’s been. As our extremely in depth map demonstrates, the teams have migrated south, mostly pootling through southern Europe and Turkey. Some have already reached the Caspian Sea. Others remain firmly in Europe, pondering the mountainy wilderness, vehicle breakdowns or institutional irritations like having to have the correct paperwork. Team Mistakes Were Made @mistakesweremademongolrally got stuck in no man’s land between Ukraine and Romania due to some such papery confusion, and Team Big Bertha @karaandnate discovered the meaning of perseverance at the Moldovan border. (Note their numerous movements between offices shown as that black squiggly line on the tracking map.)Several hours driving on European motorways or queuing at the Turkish border can almost drive you over the edge. But we think the Ralliers’ sanity is still intact for the most part, even if their engines are not. And if all other methods of mindfulness fail, there’s always counting farts…Thanks to team @rustndustracing for the excellent photo of balloons and Rally teams at Cappadocia. TURKEY CHAPTER 🇹🇷5 days. Around 3,000 km. And a Panda that’s been through it all.We parked right in the heart of Istanbul, chased the Cappadocia hot air balloons at sunrise, tackled some proper off-road tracks, crossed salt lakes and drove through some unbelievable landscapes.The roads? Calling some of them “roads” would be a compliment.Between potholes, dirt tracks and countless unexpected detours, we also met incredible people and made friendships we’ll carry with us long after this rally is over.Turkey gave us chaos, dust, endless kilometres, plenty of laughs and memories we’ll never forget.Next stop: Georgia 🇬🇪Then on to Russia 🇷🇺, Kazakhstan 🇰🇿, Uzbekistan 🇺🇿, Tajikistan 🇹🇯 and Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬.As long as the Panda keeps going, so will we. by @mongolrallyofficial

And so it has begun. The 19th edition of the world's greatest motoring adventure is afoot. This weekend saw another bout of absurd foolery as the ralliers gathered with their not-very-trusty-steeds at the Mongol Rally start line somewhere in the Czech Republic. The opaque world of the Mongol Rally start line is difficult to impart, but here are a cluster of photograms, which partially capture the curious nature of the affair. Strong man breeze block breaking, brass band rainbow discos, car pushing to no particular avail, an adventure goddess, fire dancing, mud wrestling for sock-based victory, waking up to their new tiny-car-focused future, and dodging fire flares as they launched themselves and their tiny steeds into the rest of the planet. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱'𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗶𝗻 𝟵 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀.It's like an overheating radiator here in the Department of HQ as we pace feverishly back and forth, murmuring chassis numbers and mainlining Earl Grey tea.The Mongol Rally is where all this Adventurists' nonsense began and in just 9 days' time, the 19th official Mongol Rally cohort will gather upon the start line, somewhere near Prague. From there, they shall thunder forth into their tiny-wheeled destiny of getting lost, stuck and into mild amounts of trouble as they attempt to cross 10,000 miles of the planet in a car better suited to going to the shops.Will they make it? We have no idea. The deadline to sign up to the Mongol Rally 2026 is this Friday, 24th April. After that we'll be resorting to obscurity and refusal until we open up for 2027, unless you come up with something imaginatively persuasive or have a car so tiny and unlikely to make it to the finish line, that we can't resist. We have attached to this announcement some suggestively persuasive electro-images to help you decide to come. They are a collection of some of your most liked pictures on Insta-spam. Apparently you lot really like trying to kill Mr Buddy, the @cyberpandino, rude awakenings at our launches, mud volcanoes, high-tech Rally prep, Trump showing up like a ghoulish Jesus in steak form, simple navigation techniques, ingenious suspension hacks, giving up on roads and nobs on cars. We're sometimes asked about accommodation on the Mongol Rally.Here, we take an under the hood look at just some of the varied choices the Mongol Rally has to offer, such as camping next to your car against a sunset desert backdrop, camping on top of your car, camping in a truck stop after 4 nights of just sleeping in your car (it's this kind of upgrade that we ralliers dream of), convoy camping on an empty road, Volga riverside camping, not bothering with camping at all and just lying on your bonnet for the ambient warmth like these happy chaps after an evening of jollity in the fine city of Tbilisi.If you have to leave your car behind whilst it undergoes emergency repairs, then you can camp out on a train to make sure you make the finish line, like Team Tyred and Emotional here.And don't forget to check out the facilities - there's the in-built fridge unit of the rear seat footwell as demonstrated by Team Xenus Technology Limited; the drying room of a European border post as utilised by The Czech Boys (it's almost as if it was designed for the Mongol Rally's laundry needs); and finally the impossibly clean bathroom facilities, such as this one on a ferry across the Caspian Sea. Vashlovani National Park, Georgia…14 ore di off-road senza un’anima viva intorno.Solo piste bianche infinite, silenzi che ti mangiano la testa e un caldo che non aveva alcun senso.È stata una delle giornate più dure dell’intero Mongol Rally.Quella in cui capisci che non sei tu a guidare l’avventura…è l’avventura che guida te.A un certo punto siamo rimasti bloccati nel nulla, con due ruote affondate nei crateri scavati dai pochi 4x4 e camion overlanding che attraversano queste rotte. From the first mile to the last, the Mongol Rally has been nothing short of extraordinary. What started as a wild idea turned into the adventure of a lifetime. Our Cultural Adventurers @cyberpandino and @not_standard_issue crossed borders, deserts, mountains, and cultures. After six weeks and thousands of miles in cars that most definitely are unsuitable for the journey, the Mongol Rally has come to an end in Oskemen, Kazakhstan. Our teams survived deserts, mountains and potholes the size of small countries. Their minds are numb, cars screaming in pain but somehow were carried to their glory. Here’s to the humans and their vehicles who refused to quit, have an adventure and have a bloody good time in the process. One month and one week on the road for the Mongol Rally 2025. Lots of this now dusty gaggle are still spread across Central Asia, whilst the first finishers have made it over the line. Those that have yet to complete the Rally, have only few days left to do so.Over 20 teams have already reached the Pink Palace in Oeskemen and crossed the official Finish Line. It's no mean feat to drive across thousands of miles of the planet's most formidable terrain in a car engineered for popping to the shops, so we extend our hearty congratulations to those that have made it so far. Teams featured here have mostly been selected based on their mastery of balancing, ideas and decals: Team 2Fast 2Trash, Team Happy Hour Discovery Coalition, The Rusty Chariot, Team Arfly Racing - Cyberpandino, Team Klapa enGINE promoting having no borders at all (we heartily agree) and Team Watchful Eyes.Breakdowns and undercarriage woes continue on relentlessly as the roads and non-roads of Central Asia take their toll. But the teams still on the road have no choice but to keep buggering on. Team Gobi or Go Home are taking it in their stride, seen here cooling off on the Pamir Highway before a thorough investigation of their brake and fuel lines which are generously "holding strong."
