Ever Distant (Yao Yao) by Monika Kuo

My name is Monica Kuo — a filmmaker, producer, and creative director from Taiwan based in London. I have just completed my MA in Fashion, Film, and Digital Production at LCF. The styles of my films are quite diverse, often exploring ideas of identity, belonging, and beyond.

My graduate project is a hypothetical fashion film that examines whether technology and fashion can merge into an “emotional interface,” and how the evolution of communication methods shapes the emotional landscape of Gen Z.

Ever Distant (Yao Yao) synopsis:
Far from home, Yao Yao studies abroad in London, drifting through the city’s cold and lonely streets. Her only companion is a piece of Techwear from her homeland—plain to the eye, yet pulsing with hidden warmth. Through light, touch, and fleeting whispers of heat, it carries her longing across time and distance, stitching together the fragile bond between herself and the family she yearns for.
