Life is a journey and you never know where that journey will lead you? Sometimes the journey you hoped for doesn’t work out? Sometimes it lands exactly where you hoped it would! How ironic that this series is about “the journey” because it has led me to Laguna Beach Fine Art Gallery where this series will now land. I am so grateful to @lbfagallery where I’ll be hanging with Warhol, Dali and more!! I’m overwhelmed, overjoyed and “ I Am…Enjoying the Journey!! I Am…Enjoying a the Journey In Fall” 12x12 Acrylic/Mixed Media on board. Part of a series of the four seasons where I’m using collage and hand made papers and harkening back to my design and styling days making patterns, creating characters and dressing…well now fictitious characters in paintings! Coming soon to #lbfagallery And can be seen on my website @MoniqueMarieLong.com #artist #collector #conceptualart #womanartist by @monique_marie_long

Where My Art & Beatles music collide! “MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS”
sets out to reinterpret the emotional gravity of the Beatles song by George Harrison, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” through a spiritual lens. At the heart of the guitar, Christ emerges, crowned in thorns, as a watching presence that mourns what humanity has become, and what it forgets to be. It is rendered as the focal point and emotional core of the piece. This piece does not shout it weeps.
The guitar itself functions as both symbol and vessel. Traditionally an instrument of human emotion, it becomes here a conduit for collective sorrow, echoing the idea of a world out of tune. It reflects on a world that has grown distant from truth, love, and unity. Christ is shown not as removed, but present—sharing in human sorrow and witnessing the condition of the world. While the guitar becomes a voice of lament, echoing both grief and longing the presence of Christ within the instrument invites reflection on His enduring presence in a hurting world, and on the possibility of restoration through faith, humility, and love.
The piece is constructed using layered acrylic, ink, impasto, wood, fired metal, and wire, creating a tactile surface that reinforces the tension between fragility and endurance. The embedded materials give the work a sculptural presence, inviting the viewer to engage both visually and physically with its textures and contrasts.
“My Guitar Gently Weeps” is an exploration of sorrow as both personal and universal—where music, faith, and material converge to express a quiet lament for the state of the world, and a call toward reflection and action. As intertwined with George Harrison’s final words before his death,”Everything else can wait, but the search for God can not, and love one another!” #beatles #art #womanartist #conceptualism #guitarart https://www.instagram.com/reel/DcVtFJ3NJoX/?igsi=ZXlvM2k0czcwdjBt by @monique_marie_long
