I had recently completed my 5th Chemo treatment when this picture was taken. I was still in the throws of treatment, but focused on the end game.. laser focused.

At this point, I still had 11 more Chemo treatments left, and then 20 rounds of radiation ahead of me. But… I was in it to win it… like a competitor vying to win a hard race. It was an uphill battle, but one I was determined to turn into victory.

I showed up, and faced it with a champions mindset. I focused on the finish line, marking off each treatment on my calendar with a checkmark of completion. Every check was a mark toward the goal…TO BE FINISHED.

My heart ached seeing so many women going through treatment, each of us with our own stories, but all of us going through the journey. A journey not chosen, but a journey that chose us.

For those in the throws of Chemotherapy and the side effects of losing your hair, it’s one of the things that is very emotional to go through.
Our hair is our crown… and to lose our crown is so challenging emotionally.
But, for me I would rather lose every strand, than not go through Chemotherapy. I would rather lose every strand, and come out cancer free. I would rather lose every strand and come out knowing that my choice of going through treatment, which resulted in losing my hair…. saved my life.
AND.., I get a new Crown!!
A win is a WIN. 👑👸🏽👑👸🏽

My sweet friend Helen…. You were a ray of sunshine, an inspiration, a wonderful mother, so full of life….and a phenomenal and trusted friend. The ups, the downs you handled with such Grace. You were a very smart and talented inventor and held a patent for your invention. I was So proud of you!!

You will always hold a special place in my heart.
You will never be forgotten.
Until I see you again… somewhere over the rainbow. 🙏🏽🌈

The celebration… I could not have gone through this journey without my village… my family, my friends, the medical teams.. the outpouring of support, encouragement, and love was felt tremendously throughout this journey.
Know that your support meant the world to me!!

As we enter Breast Cancer Awareness month, those that are impacted by a diagnosis may not always ask for support. But, if you know that they are going through the journey, please offer and give support…pharmacy gift cards, groceries, meals, transportation, etc…, Thank you…💕
