We spent the past weekend down at the @indielabelmkt at Canada Water in London, where I discovered a new favourite label: @positivland. Its founder @monkeyrobbb was DJing from a giant black Defender truck, and I found myself Shazam’ing track after track from his set, hooked in by the 303 lines and experimental sounds drifting across to our market stall.

I ended up picking up the entire Positivland vinyl catalogue from Rob before I left, and have been spinning this record - by Canadians Lone Wolf & Friends - this afternoon. The EP is a fascinating melting pot of electronic sounds, blending IDM, electro and acid-tinged elements. This track, “Meridian” lays down a hypnotic acid line, gradually layering in squawking synths and swirling textures, as the track unfurls and pulls you deeper into its otherworldly orbit. 🪐🌀

Love these kind of spontaneous discoveries! by @monkeyrobbb

Warlock has been DJing since 1989, constantly seeking out new music from emerging genres since starting out on London pirate radio (Pulse FM) back in the days of Acid House and Hardcore. Now hosting a weekly show on Kool FM, he is currently immersed in today's wide ranging Bass Music scene and is behind the renowned Rag & Bone imprint which has seen output from the likes of Aaron Spectre, Drop The Lime, Stagga, King Cannibal and Kanji Kinetic. His own productions too have made it onto vinyl with Hypercolour, Fat Hop, We Buy Gold, Skint, frijsfo Beats and of course Rag & Bone itself. Sets typically fuse together disparate styles and beats inflected with Bass, Techno, Breaks, Club, Juke, Electro and more whilst also drawing upon all manner of retro beats known and unknown.

Warlock and Kim Cosmik played together at many Spiral Tribe and Bedlam events back in the day and recently at the Free Party documentary launch in Bristol. They continue to seek out and champion new music without being genre specific while fusing styles in the wildstyle tradition.

Kim Cosmik is a Producer and DJ who’s signature sound is futuristic, experimental, Electro, Techno, Breaks and Bass music. Due to her extensive music collection, she can also play many styles across the dance music spectrum and beyond. Kim Cosmik runs Hybrid Rave which started in 2019 in Hastings and also promotes the event around the UK. Kim Cosmik also runs a label called Cybersoul and releases music on several labels such as 2020 Vision, Science Cult, Touched Music, Moatun and many more.

Infinite Monkeys is a collective based in London with an ever growing number heterogeneous members, self proclaimed as Monkeys (currently around 40). The collective (though not exclusively) as an audio-visual project combining live visuals and improvised music. The collective has performed at art festivals, experimental music events and venues and urban raves and on the first Friday of every month on Netil radio. Infinite Monkeys are available for adoption. taken in The Piper by @monkeyrobbb

Once a monkey said: “Keep your eye on the donut, and not on the hole”, encouraging focus on the positive, substantial aspects of creativity and life (the donut) rather than the negative void (the hole) that can distract from the work itself, emphasizing the joy of the creative process and pure consciousness.
