POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We spent the past weekend down at the @indielabelmkt at Canada Water in London, where I discovered a new favourite label: @positivland. Its founder @monkeyrobbb was DJing from a giant black Defender truck, and I found myself Shazam’ing track after track from his set, hooked in by the 303 lines and experimental sounds drifting across to our market stall.

I ended up picking up the entire Positivland vinyl catalogue from Rob before I left, and have been spinning this record - by Canadians Lone Wolf & Friends - this afternoon. The EP is a fascinating melting pot of electronic sounds, blending IDM, electro and acid-tinged elements. This track, “Meridian” lays down a hypnotic acid line, gradually layering in squawking synths and swirling textures, as the track unfurls and pulls you deeper into its otherworldly orbit. 🪐🌀

Love these kind of spontaneous discoveries!

Anomalies in the calendar breed anomalies in sound. For the fourth edition of our BIS series, those rare months where time stretches to grant us a second transmission, we surrendered the airwaves entirely to an absolute act of faith, spontaneous creation, and pure musical play.

The live archive of The Infinite Monkeys Collective is now streaming.

Based out of London, this fluid collective of around fifty heterogeneous 'Monkeys' operates on a beautiful premise of anti-pretension. They explicitly claim to be neither formal musicians nor artistic agents; instead, they gather to create for the absolute, unadulterated joy of the act itself, completely free from the weight of expectation.

While their home is across the water, the Monkeys are expanding. Last month, and just ten minutes from my home, we witnessed nearly four hours of their magnificent, entirely unscripted live improvisation. Inside the ancient, atmospheric stone walls of l'Ermita dels Sants Metges, traveling core members of the collective intertwined seamlessly with brilliant local artists from Girona and other European places. There was no safety net: only an unbroken, raw dialogue of spontaneous texture and communal energy.

This archive captures a carefully curated selection of fragments from that mesmerizing four-hour marathon.

Our gratitude goes to @sacre.bar for lending such a spiritually special and sacred space to make this collision of frequencies possible, and to the @_infinite.monkeys_ for inspiring us to reconnect with the raw essence of sound.

🐒 The BIS archive is fully live via @listen.camp Radio’s Mixcloud page.
