Books are more than stories, they’re how we pass down knowledge, preserve history, spark creativity, and explore perspectives beyond our own. 📚

That’s why Banned Books Week matters!!! Censorship isn’t just about a book being “challenged.” It’s about taking away someone’s opportunity to explore a genre, learn about an experience, encounter an uncomfortable idea, or decide for themselves what a story means.

You don’t HAVE to agree with every book you read. Reading is meant to make us think, question, discuss, and sometimes disagree.

This Banned Books Week, we’re celebrating the freedom to read, question, and stay curious. Our front table is full of just a FEW challenged, banned, and restricted books. Each book has a card inside giving you some information on why they are in this category, give them a read! They may surprise you!!🖤📖 #bannedbooksweek #indiebookstore #readmorebooks📚❤️📚 taken in Monkey Wrench Books by @monkeywrenchbookswv

Come one, come all 🥳🎉🍾

We’re celebrating two years of books, coffee, and community building on Saturday September 26th! We know, we KNOW there is a home football game but we hope you can make it in to celebrate with us over the weekend.

Sustaining an indie bookstore is (very) hard. It only works if you choose us: over convenience, big boxes, and billionaires. 2026 has been financially unkind—to all of us, you included—so it’s no small thing when you direct your dollars locally.

As for the party, we’ll have prizes, a free MWB tote with $100+ purchases*, PSLs 🎃, pop-up vendors like Monkey Wrench Vintage and @_super_bloom, and CAKE. We’ll also be launching our new membership program (details to follow!) 😱

If you’re coming, and we sure hope you are, let us know a book on your list that you’d love to see on the shelf in the comments. And if you can’t come, maybe share this post and urge a friend to join us?

Solidarity,

MWB

We’re so excited to celebrate this milestone with you, all month long and because every birthday needs a sweet treat… We’re introducing our Frosted Animal Cracker latte! 🐘🍪✨ Sweet, nostalgic, and basically childhood in a cup.

Leslie has once again read the books so you don’t have to wander the store whispering, “I don’t know… I just want something good.”

This week’s recommended are certified bangers, no skips, and at least one book you’ll end up making your entire personality. 📚🫡 taken in Monkey Wrench Books by @monkeywrenchbookswv
