i’m beyond words at how incredible the launch of THE FOREST BLEEDS was 😭😭😭🥹🥹🥹 THANK YOU to every single person that showed up to support TFB. i cannot believe how much love i felt this week, from DC to WV to OH.

west virginia will always have my heart, and since that’s also where TFB is set, it was so important to me to make sure i got to celebrate in WV. having both WV events be standing room only and selling out of stock is just…wow. i’m speechless.

also MY GOD the custom the forest bleeds candle 😭😭😭 from the incredible @oliviaegarrett at @wallsofbooksparma

thank you to all friends old and new who came out. thank you, thank you, thank you.

a huge thank you to all my incredible conversation partners and bookstore hosts:

@graceviallwrites at @oldtownbooks
@gwendolynkiste at @monkeywrenchbookswv
@j.c.dawn_author at @theliteraryescapellc
@sarahgoehrkewrites at @wallsofbooksparma

and last but not least, thank you to @lexiew_photo for the stunning photos from launch night and @sarahgoehrkewrites and @thegreyestghost for the beautiful pics at walls of books!!

Book Events! ❤️

1, 2, & 3: Last night's fabulous event at @monkeywrenchbookswv in Morgantown for Rachel Kitch's The Forest Bleeds. If you like sapphic romance, taking down billionaires, and spotting cool cryptids, this is the book for you!

4, 5, 6, 7, & 8: The launch party for Villainess Press and the Welcome to the Show chapbook, which includes one of my short stories! These little books are so incredibly beautiful! Jess is awesome to work with, and I am very sure that Villainess Press is going to make a big splash in the horror and dark fantasy communities! Plus, this event in Pittsburgh was just so much fun! 🥰

9: Wednesday's lovely virtual event at Charis Books! It was so great to talk about GILDED, especially in conversation with Quinn Connor's YOUR BELOVED REMAINS. Obsession, dark academia, and doomed queer romance! Yes, please!

10: At the Monongalia Arts Center in Morgantown for @tghuguenin and his fantastic reading! It was so cool to attend two events in Morgantown in just over a week! Such a neat town! ❤️

What's this? An open mic for people to perform any and all poems they enjoy!

A big thank you to Monkey Wrench for hosting us on November 12th. We couldn't be more excited to see familiar faces and maybe some new ones reciting poems they adore.

Even if you don't want to recite, you are still welcome to come and hangout!

See you all then!

I had a wonderful time playing my songs at Vegetable Man Day in Fairmont and playing @william_matheny songs in Wheeling last weekend! It was great to see so many pals.

Shifting from music to poetry for the next month because I obviously have no respect for my own personal time or rest (insert Tim Robinson hot dog suit man saying, “We’re all trying to find the guy who did this!”). Don’t worry, I will shift back to music afterwards to close out the year.

All of these readings except this weekend are with bud @greatgulpingstone in support of his new book out on @pulleypress 🌕 Hope to see you!

10/9 - Kestrel Celebration - @gaborwvfolklifecenter
10/16 - @canary_books_wv w/ @smallmythologies
10/17 - @skullcitystudio w/ @cait.maree.o
11/6 - @monkeywrenchbookswv w/ @elizabethtsav0308 & Robert Powers

We’re hosting a knit along!
if you’re unfamiliar with a knit along (KAL for short) it’s basically a knitting book club!
To participate, buy the pattern book from @monkeywrenchbookswv and join us each week as we knit the same project together :) bonus points if you grab a cozy drink at monkey wrench to bring over before club☕️
This is NOT a class, this is a group where we can all help each other through problems vs one specific instructor.

shoot wvuretaillab@gmail.com an email to register:) see you soon!

with a week left to go before THE FOREST BLEEDS is out in the world, i wanted to share a handy little readers guide! this includes TFB’s content warning - i’m a big believer in including these up front, so you’ll find them here plus on the first page inside the book. also this probably means this post will get suppressed to hell, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

anyway, it’s proper spooky season time, so consider picking up THE FOREST BLEEDS and coming to hang at one of the upcoming events!!! yay!
