Improvising a cadenza in classical style is as funny (and stressful) as it gets. But at the same time I love the freedom and excitement that it brings. I wish that we would integrate more this lost practice in concerts, like how they did it 300 years ago! Of course what I play in the video is full of things that can be improved- it could have more interesting materials, more technical control, some beautiful sequences here and there, no weird jumps, more space… I wish I took my theory lessons a bit more seriously! (Finally found some use to “the seventh leads to the tonic”) - but being scared of things and taking risks will bring us further in our development. hey at least we tried! The way to happiness is improvement.
.
Lastly, my endless thanks to @deutschebahn for having insane delays, giving me time to edit this video!

straight upon landing in Taipei, improvisation and jamming with 3 amazing musicians for the upcoming new album from my friend @yuying.hsu_yy.
And then yesterday from 9-11 pm , teaching a virtual masterclass/seminar for the students in @sodaliscellocamp ,Venezuela, with 12 hours of time difference.
Reflecting over this summer, just 2 weeks ago I came back from Mexico, had one day at home and spent the next week in @musik_an_der_tonstrasse doing wonderful chamber music with big maestros that I’ve always admired so much, to then come to Taipei right away and be thrown into the studio for the following 4 days, experimenting with Bach, improvisation and electronics, and some days later, passing on all this knowledge to my students in @cello_sessions in Tainan, to go straight into Berlin Art Week @softpowerfestival to play a solo recital in Club Der Visionäre @club_der_visionaere during the same week, the orchestral sessions at Berghain. Not 1, but 2 classical concerts in 2 of the most loved clubs in Berlin?
Little me wouldn’t have believed it.
I am overwhelmed and full of gratitude for the freedom that doing so many different things bring, and for everyone that decides to work together once and once again, for dreaming and creating beautiful things, and for the music and the love for it.
